Well it looks like I'm making a good start with my new years resolution to blog more :) I also decided to try and knit more I really want to get better and finally make myself a cardigan or maybe a vest :) I've knitted a top before, but it was really easy and it didn't need any sleeves or anything sewing on. I just think I'm scared I'll get stuck somewhere along the pattern and then won't know how to do something and that it'll end up being unfinished.
I think I might have a go at knitting something like this I love vests like that and that way I get to try shaping. Plus I've got some yarn laying around that alone wouldn't be enough to make anything, but put together like that would be perfect.
Ooh or maybe I could knit Cathode! It's knit in the round in one piece I think so that'd be even easier! Gonna have to find my circular out though.. can't seem to find it anywhere!!

We have recently booked our tickets for our boat trip to Holland to see my family in March! We're going with a P&O boat from Hull to the Hoek van Holland which is only 30 mins away from where my parents live so it's perfect! It does take 11 hours to get there though so we'll be sleeping in a cabin (should be fun). I think it sets off at about 9pm and arrives at 8am, which seems like ages, but it's not when you're sleeping :) It'll be quite scary for Dave to drive on the right side I'm sure lol.

It's been an exciting, happy, emotional, beautiful, sleepless, frustrating, joyous, amazing and all in all truly brilliant year for me. 2008 was the best and I will miss it. I'm also looking forward to what is ahead though as there are some brilliant things ahead of us yet.
I can't believe it's been 8 months since I had our baby soon she'll be one already! There is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE pile of presents under the tree for her teehee I can't wait to open them with her on Thursday I'm so excited! Next year will be even better when she will be walking and talking and we will be with my family and my sister's baby will be there too! I can't wait!
I don't know if anybody still bothers reading this, but I wish you a merry Christmas full of presents yummy food and family :)
My new years resolution is that I will update my blog more often lol! I thought I was doing well doing it once a month but then I somehow lost track of doing that!
I finalllllllllllllly finished Violet's bootees btw and I am now knitting her a hat as her current (bought from Mothercare) keeps turning around and being in her face so I'm knitting her one that will fit her properly. That was also the last time I'm buying a hat for her cause I can make her a zillion for the price they charge! Plus you can make them as you or they like so it's much more personal! :D
I will post pictures of them on her asap :D Anyway I'm off to knit and regrettably watch Cliffhanger (cringe).. yes I know but HE wants to watch it so I'll tolerate it for him lol:)

my sister is having a baby!! :D She said she thinks she's about 5 weeks along so should be due in June! I'm really excited Vi will have a cousin to play with hihi and they'll only be about a year and 2 months apart :D
Plus I get to knit her stuff hehe another excuse to go out and buy more yarn :P
Oh and we've also started weaning Vi on thursday (doctors orders cause she kept on having diarrhoea) and she didnt care for it much at first, but now opens her mouth for more lol heres some pictures of her first tastes :)

5 months!

It's been forever since I've posted on here.. 2 months by the looks of it. Shame shame shame! I just dont have loads of time anymore. Butttt I have however started to knit last night! Hooray, I finally have a bedtime down for Vi and a routine so I can knit once it's her bedtime :) Atm I'm knitting her some booties from Baby Knits and then after I'm going to knit her a beanie with a flower on and some mittens :) I saw some at Boots the other day but they were charging £8 for it! So I thought no way, I'll knit some myself thanks!
After that I'm going to try and knit her the bear suit that's on the front cover it's so cute :) But then for when she's 6-9m so I'll have enough time to finish it lol
Oh oh we have got a car!! At last no more damn late or non appearing busses and no more steep hill to town lol! We got a 1998 Nissan Micra GX it's red and it's in an awesome state! It only had 54.000miles on it! Had to buy a new carseat for Vi though as the old one didn't fit under the seatbelt :| And we only recently found out that you can buy seatbelt extensions lol! ohwell :)

3 months!!

Wow I can't believe it's been 3 months already!.. this also means I haven't posted for 2 months lol! I hope I still have some readers =( I really do want to post more often, but I seriously don't get the chance to do more online then check facebook or myspace. Even now she's asleep in the baby carrier. At night time we have some real problems getting her to sleep in her cot. She falls asleep in her moses basket, but only after I've nursed her to sleep and even then in the middle of the night she still wakes up every 2 hours to feed... I hope she will start dropping a night feed soon.. I actually thought she would have already. We had kind of a hard time with her for a while as she seemed to have reflux, but atm she doesn't need any medicine as long as she sleeps on a wedge pillow (so she's slightly raised) we baught it from a site specialised in baby reflux =) She cried all the time and feeding her was hard aswell, but my health visitor told me that it was also because at the time she was around 6 weeks and when they're that old apperantly they cry alot for some reason they cry the most so that explained some of it. But things are starting to get better now. She smiles more and she mostly only cries when she's hungry. And we play alot more together it's so awesome to make her smile =) I can't wait till she can actually hold things on her own, she's trying to grab things alot but she can't hold on to them yet bless her.
Meanwhile I still haven't started knitting yet, but that'll have to wait until the time is right I guess =)

One month!

I can't believe she was already one month old last thursday! Time goes so fast sometimes it feels like I'm still on the same day eventhough 3 days have passed lol She is alot more awake now and aware of things aswell =) And for some reason she likes to fall asleep with sound and not in silence so we like to put her mobile on thats on her cot that plays a few songs and makes the mobile turn =) She's also really fascinated with my hair lol When she's laid in my arms she won't stop looking at it, probably cause it moves =) We think she's getting brown-ish eyes cause we can see some brown lines appearing, but then again she could just get blue eyes with brown stripes in.. we'll have to wait and see =)
We went to town with her for the first time last friday. I was great to just go somewhere other then the village and I think she liked it aswell as she was awake the whole time, but she didn't cry or anything. The only bad thing about going shopping is that some shops are rediculously hot so we have to keep on taking her coat off and putting it back on when we go out.. theres no need for heating with this nice weather it's silly =S.
It sure is hard work to breastfeed. Other women always make it look so easy, but it isn't and it's really easy to just quit, but I'm glad I haven't as I think I've finally got it down now so it's getting easier=) I was on a forum the other day and I read that bottlefed babies (formula) only get fed like every 4 hours.. Violet wakes up around every 2/ 2 and a half hours, so unfair! lol But I'd rather wake up every hour then not breastfeed her it's so much better for her =)

You'd almost think this was a baby blog and not a knitting/crochet one.. I haven't really done anything craft related, but I'm thinking of starting a new knitting project soon if I can manage to fit it in my "schedule" lol It's a summer cardigan with short sleeves and a sort of lace pattern on the front. It'll be my first ever cardigan so I'm a bit anxious to start it, but I won't know if I can do it unless I try =) The pattern is in the latest Simply Knitting btw and it says it's perfect for people who have never knitted a cardi before, but have made things like patterned hats and things little more complex then just scarves. So I should be fine =)

Oh and we've finally got the internet at home btw, hooray lol ♥

This is only a quick update but still an update =D So there she finally is! She was born on April 17th at 12:06pm it took 13hours all together and she weighed 7.4 lbs and was 50cm long =D I'll write about it more later when we have the internet at home (got it ordered and should be up and running for the 10th). The first week was really hard, especially cause I lost alot of blood and so became aneamic and I was a bit weak and well the tiredness doesn't help obviously, but we got through it and we're starting to get used to it now =) I've got lots more pictures, but theyre all on our own computer so I'll post them next time =) She's worth all the pain all the stitches and all the hours being woken up she's just amazing and so beautiful and perfect and I sometimes still can't believe she's ours and that I'm her mom, but when I do it feels good and I'm so proud it makes me cry.. the first few days I did nothing but cry cause of the baby blues lol
Luckily my parents were here when it all happened I really hoped it would happen that way so they could be there and see her striaght away even if it was only for a few days=) I can't believe she's 2 weeks and3 days already it's all just gone so fast. I'll never forget those hours and the first time I saw her I was so happy I cried and it was like me and David and Violet were there in the room alone and nothing else mattered =)

and it'll be the due date! I can't belive it's so soon already! Nothings really happening yet though, but I have been getting more Braxton Hicks so maybe that means they'll just keep on coming more and more and turn into real contractions *fingers crossed*! I just hope she'll come this weekend as my parents are coming over on tuesday for the week and I'd really love it if they could see her then so please send me some good labour vibes/thoughts!! =D
Btw, when it's happend and we're back home I won't be able to come online for a while so I'll ask David to just come on here and say that we've had her and we'll upload pics later =) We're having the phoneline installed on the 17th so hopefully we can sort the internet out soon aswell =)

Anyway just wanted to write a little update incase anybodies thinking we've gone and had the baby already =)

Breech who?

yes, that's right.. we're finally sure she isn't breech she's cephalic(headdown)! I was so relieved when we saw her on the scan on tuesday. It was also strange to see how big she has gotten, I mean obviously we knew she had grown, but when you see her like that it's like, WOW that's inside my bump! She is actually still moving lots and sometimes it can be really uncomfortable especially when I'm just in bed trying to fall asleep, sometimes it actually hurts so it's not really nice. But then again at least she is moving and we know she is doing ok =)

I started washing all her clothes today so everything will be ready when she comes =) I've packed my hospital bag and hers aswell so we're all ready now=) I think she's going to be either on time or a few days early, but not more. 99% of my family has been born bang on time so it wouldn't surprise me if she would be too =) I wonder why so many babys are born premature these days. I mean on the forum I go to (Bounty) on the Due In April group, 10 boys and 16 girls have already been born and most of them were in the beginning of March, 2 in February and 2 in January! I would be really worried if I had Violet that early.

I do feel alot better about giving birth now. I don't know why I just feel alot more confident about it all. Maybe seeing the ward where I'll be going and learning more about what's going to happen and what can happen has settled my mind abit too=) But I'm just so happy to know I'll be able to give birth to her naturally.

Internet Explorer..

is completely useless. I'm sorry for whoever uses it, but I'm not changing my layout again I mean I've done everything right in the HTML for this new layout and it's working perfectly fine in Firefox, but not in IE and theres just no reason for it so I give up lol! Seriously though if you still don't have Firefox and you don't use Mac then I recommend you'd get it as, not only does it work better, it's also much safer!!

I've been to see my midwife last thursday and she said it felt like Violet is head down, but she wasn't 100% sure so now I'll have to go to hospital on Tuesday to have a quick scan to see how she's laid and if she's breech then we'll get to hear what we can do from there, while we're there. So fingers crossed she is laid head down!

It's Good Friday today and Easter weekend this weekend and Easter=Loads of Chocolate!!! Well maybe not loads but at least some =D

Davids mum got a Nintendo Wii for her birthday (early present) and they got Guitar Hero 3 for it aswell and it's very addictive lol We've been playing it for 2 days in a row! We'll have one one day hehe =D They have a new game coming out for it called Wii Fit and you can do exercises with it on a special board that's wirelessly connected to the Wii so I'm hoping we can afford a Wii someday soon so that I can do excercises at home =)

Anyway I hope everybody will have a great easter weekend and that you'll get loads of chocolate =D

I'm still alive lol

And getting bigger as you can see =P That's me with my mom and sister when they came to visit us in February =D Only 4 weeks today as of today till the due date.. it's just going so fast! That's if she'll stay in there till April 13th! I go to a pregnancy forum on Bounty and we've already had three births in the Due in April section! 2 of them were born in February and one in the end of January! They were really tiny though and they're fine now, but they did need life support in the beginning so I'm glad Violet decided to stay for this long and I hope she'll stay until it's time.. but realistically it could happen anytime from now onwards!
Last time I went to see my midwife she felt my bump again to see how Violet's laid and we found out she was breech (head near ribs instead of facing downwards) again.. and atm she's transverse (laying on her side so horizontal). I went to a birthing/parenting class in the hospital yesterday though and learnt some new ways to help her to turn so hopefully she will before thursday which is when I'll go to see my midwife again and if she still hasn't turned then I'll have to go to the hospital to have her turned and that'll hurt so not looking forward to it=(

I haven't been doing LOADS of knitting or crocheting, but I have knitted Violet 2 hats and a pair of mittens and I'm planning on knitting her some dungarees haha =D But I think I'm going to wai twith that until I know how big she is..but then again I won't have much time to do anything once she's born lol so I should just do it now =P

I've changed my blog layout.. it's only temporarily as I want to make my own layout but as everything atm (not having internet at home) I had to choose a normal layout just so that everybody can read it as I was told that some ppl can't see my posts or only half of them which was probably due to Internet Explorer cuz it's being stupid lately which is why I've been using Firefox for a year or so now.. everybody should use it it's a lot safer aswell!!

Anyway hopefully soon we will have internet at home and then I'll be able to post on here all the time! It's just that we have to get the phoneline installed and fixed onto our flat which costs like £125 which is rediculous if you ask me but we don't have a choice so we're saving up for it =)

I'm off to read some blogs now I hope everybody is alright =)

I got...

new clothes today! My parents sent me them out of the blue and it was a really nice surprise =D You can't really see my bump in these pics, but you can if you'd see me from the side! I'll have to take another one just to show how I've grown =) Funny thing is that everything else on me is exactly the same expect for my belly, but that's probably cause my tummy is normally flat so it's showing already=D I can't even check my weight as we don't have a scale and the one that's here isn't accurate anymore lol!
Anywhos I just wanted to show off my fab new clothes (two shirts and jeans) =D Ooh and I have some update pictures of the scarf I'm knitting and the mp4 case I completed a while ago =)

I knitted the whole of the case in one piece, except for all the orange on it, which has been crocheted =)I'm thinking about maybe putting some embroidery on it, but I'm not sure yet we'll see =)

Getting bigger

It seems like I haven't posted for ages again, but this time it's cause I don't spend that much time over here anymore I like to stay at home and do my own thing and relax (also due to the fact that everybody here smokes so it's not really nice for me).
I've knitted a case for my new mp4 player, I winged it so I didn't use a pattern, but I'll take some pics soon so you can see it=) I'm now currentley knitting a new scarf for myself. I'm using a pattern from the latest Simply Knitting issue, it's a lacy scarf and it works up really easily, again I'll take some pics soon =) I'm also going to make a matching hat for the scarf, but I'm going to use this pattern for it. I've been wanting to knit it for a while so now I've finally got an excuse to =P I'm thinking of putting a nice button or brooch or something on the hat to add something more =)
And when I've finished this then I'm going to start crocheting some booties, I haven't found a pattern that I like yet, but I'm sure I will soon =)
Last Thursday I went to see my midwife and she told me the results of my bloodtests, that I had done after the scan in the hospital last time, and she said everything was fine and I'm also immune to Rubella so that's good. She also felt my bump and she said the baby is growing really well. And then she listened to it's heartbeat with a special little device and she said it was really loud and strong! It was the first time we heard it's heartbeat so it was really special and amazing =D
The second scan will be on November 27th so we're really looking forward to that one as it'll take alot longer then the last one and they'll look at little details and see if everything is growing ok and such=)

our little baby! This is a photo of my first scan that I had last tuesday! Last thursday the 4th was my birthday so it was the best birthday present ever! It was so amazing to see it move and to see it's little heart beat! They said it's very active as it kept moving around, that's why it's got it's legs up in the air on the photo haha =)
When I was looking at it on the scan it felt like it's a boy, I don't really mind weather it's a boy or a girl it'll still be ours and perfect =)

I've been looking for lots of things to knit and crochet obviously and I've found a few things, but most things I've seen online are really pastel type of things that I don't like, we want our baby to be a rock baby hehe so I'm going to knit it some kool and funky things =D My mom said she still had some clothes that my grandmother made for me aswell and she said I can have them which is so great, I love the fact that I'll be giving my child something that she made for me with love , that way it feels like shes still there in a way =) This is making me all emotional btw lol damn those pregnancy hormones!

I'm getting a bit of a bump now finally so I had to buy a pair of maternity jeans which are so much more comfortable! I can still fasten my trousers, but then when I sit down or bend over it hurts so I'd have to leave the top buttons open lol

I'll be catching up with everybodies blogs now=)

Cakes and bakes

It sure is exhausting being pregnant, I'm tired all the time. And it'll only get worse from here on lol But I don't mind it's all worth it=) I can't wait till I have our first scan done I'm so excited! And then soon we'll be able to see if it'll be a boy or a girl. I strongly feel it'll be a girl for some reason, but you never know. And I don't mind either way, he/she will still be perfect =)

Today I made a cake. It was quite an easy one so it didn't take long to mix and everything and it only took 70 mins to bake =) I used a cakemix that I got from one of the mills that my dad works on so it's not one you can buy in any shop. It's called a Boerencake which basically means a farmerscake =) All I had to add was 4 eggs and 270gr of butter/margarine =)

And after it had cooled down we took it down to Dave's moms house and I put some squirty cream on the top for a little bit extra and this is how it looked =) (not the best picture):

And luckily it was yummy =D I love baking and cooking and I'm going to be doing alot more of it! I'm going to be one of those old grandmothers that are always baking lol =D

We've had some more problems with our downstairs neighbour btw. She likes to play really loud music in the middle of the night and have all her (drunk) friends over that like to shout instead of talk in a normal volume. So we complained to the council, cause I'm sorry but I'm not having this when I'm as tired as I am, I need all the sleep I can get I don't need some snotty nosed teenager to come in and think she can do whatever she wants just because she has a dad who beats people up when they are in their way =S Which doesn't give you a very safe feeling btw. I hope I don't sound like a whining old lady, but it's really not nice when you get woken up at 3/4 am every weekend and sometimes during the week =( I hope it'll get better after they give her another official warning (which means if she does it again she can get kicked out).

September already! It seems like yesterday that we went on holiday in July, although that's actually been nearly 2 months.
Having your own place, no internet there and Sims2 (and all expansion pacs) on the computer that HAS got internet is not good for blogging! I get distracted too easy, seriously I go on the computer everytime something worth sharing happens and then I look online and get distracted and then by the time I realise I still haven't done my blog it's time to go home to make tea (dinner)!lol ahwell I'll get there one day.. hopefully soon. Meanwhile I think I've lost all my readers =(
We've been busy in the flat as usual. We've got our laminate flooring down in the bedroom now and we have baught the laminate for in the hallway, all we need now is the underlay (we have lots leftover from the bedroom, but need one or two more squares so that means we have to buy a whole new pack..that's another 12,95 gone from our tight budget lol) and then the roomdeviders (I think that's what you call them) that go in the doorways to connect the floor there going from room to room, which cost about £9 each (!).. *sighs*. There is good news too though.. we've got a cooker (gas range) with oven and grill! =D So we can finally cook our own food.. may not sound like such a big deal to most people, but I'm really excited and I'm going to be making LOTSSSSS of cakes and breads and pies!! Especially my special Dutch apple pie (with my moms recipe =P) =D Can't wait and ofcourse I'll be posting pictures of them! Wish I could add the smell of them too as that's one of the best things about baking =)
Soon it'll be my birthday again in October.. 23 already, feels like it was only yesterday when I was 13 lol! I already know what I'm getting for my birthday.. well mostly anyway.. season 2&3 of Gilmore Girls on dvd from David's sister and David's getting me an mp4 player =D My parents gave me and David the gas range/cooker for our birthdays btw which was really awesome of them =D

I haven't been doing much knitting. I'm still working on an pm4 cover for David's sis, it just needs a cord and then it should be done. I'm going to crochet her a better one though from the Happy Hooker book (ipod covers)=)

I've got a blog? yes ofcourse I have! I'd almost forgotten about it with how busy I've been lately! I hope there are still people out there who are reading this =( I actually even missed my first blogiversary which was in June!
In July we went on holiday to see my family for 18days which was really great! My sister had just got a flat with her bf aswell and they got a doggy called Utah and he's so sweet! He's really big though.. he's a cross between a Argentine Dogo and White Sheperd.. he looks more like a Argentine Dogo though =) He's only just a year old and they found him wandering around in the woods in Rotterdam and my sister got him from a kennel in Rotterdam in June and he had been there since March so luckily he didn't have to be in there for long=) Here you can see him for yourself.

He's such a sweetie, he's always happy and he's SOOOOO excited and happy when my sister and her bf come home he runs around the flat with his chewybone in his mouth and moves his tail really fast haha=)

We have also moved into our flat.. finally!! When we came back from holiday we found out that not only did David's fam painted our bedroom and cupboards, but they also put in a laminate floor in our livingroom! How fantastic is that?!? We're now saving up for the flooring in the bedroom and the hallway... so don't mind the flooring on the picture in the bedroom please, cause it's horrible atm lol

It still looks a bit empty in the pictures, but that's because we took those when we first arrived so now it's a bit more "lived in" =)
When we have the floors in we are going to get a rescue doggy from one of the kennels around here =) We either want a Border Collie or a Staffordshire Bull Terrier =) They'll probably be cross breeds, but I don't care we just want a dog to love =)
I will be reading up on my usual blogs soon and I promise I'll update my blog more often! =)

Progress..finally

I've finally found the time to come on here and write a blogpost woohoo!
I've been way too busy to come online long enough to do the regular things that I do and when I did I'm not always in the mood to come online and write loads=)
Anyway, the last week has been hard especially for David and his mom and her family as her father passed away, he was 73 years old='( The cremation was last thursday and they spread his ashes today. I hope he'll rest in peace now.

Aside from all that happening we have also been decorating (it's good to have things to do then you cankeep your mind busy for a while) and we are getting progress finally=) We've baught a few things to go in the flat and now we're saving to buy carpets and laminate flooring=) We've painted just about all the halllway except for the ceiling and an extra coat on the walls.
We're going to paint the second wall in the livingroom today the colour is looking really nice and it suits the patterend wallpaper that we baught for one of the walls perfectly=) My parents are coming on Friday so I hope we'll have that wallpaper up by then so they can see it... but I'm confident that we will=)

Well I've posted the present the other day so it should be arriving soon and I think it's safe to post it on here now =P I had already posted it on GetStitchy anyway and on my myspace=)
Soooo here it is!

I've put alot of blood sweat and tears into it lol (not literally ofcourse!)=P I hope she likes it anyway=) I felt really bad as I wasn't able to post it in time, she said it was fine, but obviously I still feel bad well aslong as she likes it... and it gets there! It's happend a few times that I've sent something out now that hasn't even arrived and it's really annoying. I sent Vik a package for christmas and she hasn't got it so I'm guessing someone took it and my dad never received his fathersday presents last year!
Ohhhhhh and I have some fantastic news! WE GOT A FLATTTTTTTT!! We got the keys for it this wednesday and we have been steaming some wallpaper off of the livingroom walls today (after we went up to the castle to volunteer) and it's taking forever haha but it's worthe it!

As I can't show you the full project I'm working on because it's still a secret I thought I'd give away a little sneakpeek=P I'm about 95% done with the knitting and then I have to felt it all and sew in the lining in time for thursday or friday so it can be posted in time for mothersday!
I really hope it'll all felt okay and that it'll look as I'm hoping it will end up looking haha we shall see=)
Tomorrow I'll be off working at the castle again and the weather forecast said it's going to rain... great! We haven't had any rain so far though so I can't complain I guess, but I still hope it won't rain too bad or for long=)
Oh btw, after I have felted the bag I was planning on just shaping it by putting an object in the project and leave it to dry standing on a binliner (plastic rubbish bag)... is that the right way to do it or is there a better way? I really haven't been able to find any online if there is.

Mothersday secrets

I've been really busy this past week knitting a mothersday present, going up to the castle more then usual as they needed some more help getting things ready for the opening of the gardens last thursday. I went on monday and wednesday, was supposed to go on tuesday aswell but David's muscles were aching really badly and considering I'm not really strong enough (yet) to slam poles into the ground I stayed home aswell cause I'd just feel useless lol I've actually got myself a bit of a tan(+lots of freckels) since I've been working there =D
Anyhow I can't really show you my progress of the mothersday present or tell you what it is, because my mom may be reading this and I don't want to spoil the surprise =) It is however my first ever felting project so I hope it'll all felt ok and that I've knitted it the right size. The pattern I thought of using turned out to be useless so I now I'm just winging it and hoping it'll turn out ok lol! I'm really loving the yarn I'm using it's very colourfull and it's nice to work with yarn that keeps amazing you with the different colour combinations it's got =)
I'll post pictures of it after mothersday ofcourse=) I still have to find some fabric to use on this mothersday present. I hope my sewing will look abit better then it did last time I tried haha but then again that was only my first time=)
Today we've got dull weather but all of last week it's been sunny and really warm and I think it's going to be the same next week so I'm not complaining! I recently found this site where you can listen to music and keep track of the things you've been listening to and it's awesome it's called Last.FM and it's completely free so go check it out if you like music as much as I do. You can find me here on that site =) I've only got two friends so far haha so it'd be fun to get some more on there!

I've finished knitting my wristband.. finally.. it didn't take long as it's only small, but I've had to take it apart, reknit, take it apart and reknit a few times. It still looks like a mess as you can see, but I'm going to (try) and steam block the cable parts so they'll stop curling and it'll just be straight. And ofcourse I'll be weaving in the ends =)
Oh and woohoo!! the new spring issue of CrochetMe is up and working again... I read on their myspace bulletin that the page had been having some probems and I haven't been able to reach the page up until today so yay! I loooooooove the More-then-an-apron!! It's so cute and kool at the same time! I'll have to make it...when I've got the money to buy all that yarn.. hemp yarn to be exact.. I've always wanted to use it so it could be a good excuse to finally get some =D They've also got a link up on the pattern page for a site that uses and makes just hemp yarn. The designs are really fab, have a look for yourself =)

So there are the pictures of my finished lacy hairband =) You'll have to excuse my messy hair on the last picture... I should've been smart enough to brush it a bit before going on a picture lol! (I had it in a ponytail before that). I'm quite happy with how it turned out, but I don't think I really get the whole blocking process... what I did was.. I made it wet, straightend it out, rolled it up in a towel so it'd stay straight when drying and that's it.. am I doing something wrong?
I'm now actually trying to design my own knitted bracelet. I came up with it while I was knitting the hairband and thought it'd look nice as a bracelet.. I actually thought it'd be nice if I had some beads so they could be on the lacy part in the middle, but I don't have any beads for knitting so that'll have to wait for a bit =) I'm not using the pattern from the hairband, I'm actually tring to use a single cable in the middle as I think that'll look really fancy =) I'm using some really pretty and super soft yarn that I got from my knitting/crocheting/blogging friend Anne-Marie for christmas, it's called Medici by Sirdar =) And right now I'm actually using a plain non-dyed yarn with it aswell I can't remember it's name right now, but I've added it to use to knit the cable with, because when I tried knitting it with the Medici alone you couldn't really see the cable so I thought I'd add a plain coloured wool to make it stand out more =) And the wool isn't really white it's more of a cream/white colour which matches the Medici very well. I still have to see how it'll all look knitted though.
My next big project is going to be the Mini-Sweater by Stephanie Japel (Glampyre). I've only ever knitted a strappy top so I hope I'll do ok with this as it seems alot harder, but I reallllly love it so I just have to give it a go =) I still have to order the circular needle that's needed though so I'm not sure when I can order it or when it's going to arrive... or if they have it in my LYS if so then I could get started right away which would be even better =P btw I'm going to use Wendy Fusion yarn for the mini-sweater in the saffron shade, luckily I still have 2 balls of it that I've never used =D
It's going to be 20/21 degrees celcius this weekend so I'll be out getting a tan hehe =D

Easter and knitting!

I started knitting the lacy hairband I found online the other day. I love pdf file patterns it makes it so much easier to print out! I haven't really done any lace knitting before so this is a great way to start with it and so far is been a piece of cake! I just hope it'll look any good on me when I've finished haha! I've posted some pictures at the bottom =)
It works up pretty fast so I should have this one finished either tonight or tomorrow. When you get the pdf file for the pattern you see that there's 3 different hairband patterns on it! So I'm going to make them all =P
I hope everybody has been having a great easter! We didn't really do anything today, the only "easter" thing I've done so far is eat chocolate eggs lol! I'm actually going to stop eating chocolate after easter.. I found out that it's the reason why I've had eczema on my collarbone. It dissapeared when I hadn't eaten any chocolate for a while so yeah it's deffinatly chocolate! And possibly more dairy products as I've read that they usually are one of the main causes for it. At least I'm not one of the poor people who suffer from it severely I've just got a teeny tiny spot on my collarbone and even that is annoying so I can't even imagine what it must be like for them!

yup I just realised I totally forgot to mention that since last wednesday I started doing this volunteering work at the castle gardens nearby (Wentworth & Stainborough castle) as a conservationist. David does it aswell so we go there together it's so much fun! It's hard work yeah, but I love being outdoors and we get to help improve the living environment for the animals that live there and also just the general woodlands and park =) They are completely restoring the whole park and both the castles. One of the castles (Wentworth castle which is now used as a college) has already been done up it just needed a good clean on the outside=) Stainborough castle is a different story.. last time I saw it it looked more like a ruin then a castle, but they are going to rebuild and restore it so it'll look great when it's done! It should be done at about the end of 2008 =)

Ok so I really have to start updating my blog more often. I've hardly posted at all since I've come back from The Netherlands! And I'm kind of starting to fear that nobodies reading my blog anymore lol
Another reason for me not updating it is that I haven't really done any knitting or crocheting lately. I've been quite lazy with knitting, I haven't even finished my dad's scarf yet that I was supposed to give him for last winter! yes yes I know.. I'm very ashamed of myself! lol
I still have two balls of Wendy Fushion laying around and I haven't made up my mind what to do with it yet, but I'm thinking about knitting or crocheting a hairband for the spring/summer.. although I'm thinking that Fushion might be a bit too chunky for a summery hairband. I don't want it to be anything bulky and I don't fancy sweat dripping down my face whenever I put it on lol Maybe a lacy one like this will be kool. I haven't ever really done any lace knitting so it'll be a good chance to practise it =)
I've finally got around to cheicking up on the new patterns on Knitty and I've found a few patterns that I'd love to do... as always! Damn you free patterns! I'd love to knit this cardigan but in slightly different colours and maybe a little tiny bit longer so it'll actually reach your waist=) And ofcourse I also loooooove the space invaders (bmp) socks, but they look a little too complicated for me seeing as though I haven't actually knit ANY socks yet so I think I should start with some simple ones.. thing is it's not easy to find sockyarn over here so I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere online other then Ebay (they always seem to mess up our bankaccount) and hope it's cheap lol.
We (me and David) went on a beautiful bikeride through the countryside today and the weather was just perfect! I'd post some pictures, but our comp has broken down a few times so we don't have photoshop on it anymore and so I can't resize my images for a while =( Anywho I promise I'll keep updating my blog more often=)

I'm back

Hi everybody! well I've been back for a while now but I haven't had the chance to go through all my pictures before now so I thought I'd wait until I could put some pictures up with this post =)
Going back home was great! and I miss it so much already.. I never realise how much I really miss my family until I'm there again. It was hard for me to go back to england again and 11 days just weren't enough.. but we are going back this summer in July so I'm reallLLly looking forward to that =)
We did so many things in so little time! My parents live near Rotterdam, which is just about this only city next to Eindhoven (where I was born) that I love (I normally can't cope with all the rushing people and traffic and stress), so we went to the Euromast it is one of the highest buildings in Europe.. it used to be THE highest but well that was back in the 60's/70's and times change hehe.. they have made it higher recently and also renewed it alot so I hadn't seen the renewed building yet neither so it was nice to see. David is afraid of heights so it wasn't that great for him lol so he didn't want to go up all the way so I stayed there with him.. kinda regret not going up with my parents but ohwell I can do that next time :) Here are some pictures of the views from the Euromast looking out on Rotterdam :)

btw this is going to be the longest post ever lol! We alos went to Eindhoven my beautiful hometown =) and to a museum there that's called the Historical Openair Museum of Eindhoven.. but then in Dutch hehe =) It's basically a outdoors museum and it shows how we lived in the middel ages and such =) here are some pictures of when we were there =)

We also went to another part of Rotterdam called Delfshaven.. Everybody knows the dutch pottery with the blue paintings on it.. it's called Delft Blue pottery.. Delft is a place in The Netherlands and obviously that's where it's from.. back in the days in about 1600 Delft didn't have it's own harbour and it couldn't get one in it's own town so they decided to make one in Rotterdam and it's still there now called Delfshaven =) it has about 90% of the original old buildings still there so it's really nice =) here are some pictures =)

well I will post some more pictures tomorrow or the day after because I think this is all the space blogger will allow me hehe and the post is pretty long so I don't want to bore you too much lol =P

Tomorrow is the day finally. We'll be leaving for Holland at last=D We're going to be picked up by a taxi at about 11:30am who will take us to the airport and then we'll have to wait there for about 2 and a half hours! you have to be at the airport about 2 hours before take off so that they can check everybody in. Which is kind of annoying because there isn't exactly much to do in the LeedsBradfors Airport as it's only tiny and next to no shops to look in and only one cafe which is not the best one but you have to get food from somewhere and a drink =) My pappa will come to pick us up from the airport in Holland.. we'll land at about 16:45 (4:45 pm) in Dutch time. The flight usually doesn't take very long and it'll probably be dark by the time we get to Holland.. I don't like travelling in the dark it always feels a bit depressing for some reason, but theres nothing we can do about that hehe.
On the 19th it'll be my sisters birthday so that'll be fun to be there again for once =D we baught her two books for her brithday.. one book is a dictionary of dreams and the other one is a book full of selected poems =) I hope she'll like them.
We'll be returning on the 22nd=) I'll deffinatly be updating my blog more often when I come back! I don't know why I haven't lately.. I've just been spending lots of time on myspace lol and I also found this great site where you can go to talk about knitting it's called GetStitchy! that's the link to the forum and you can also go to their main site which is here =) I highly recommend it anyway as it's fun and everybody is really fun and friendly! it's like the knitting version of Crochetville seriously!
Well I hope that everybody will have a great February! I'll be checking all your blogs when I come back and read up with what I've missed! I'll miss reading them all till I come back hehe=)

Woohooooooo Blogger has finally let me go onto the new bloggerrrr! Nothings different so far.. so I was kind of dissapointed as I was expecting some huge changes and a futuristic looking blog lol I'm thinking of changing my blog I'm bored with the current template already haha I get bored easily as you can tell and I'm in a vintage mood so I'm thinking of creating a new one soon.. actually I've been thinking of switching to wordpress instead, but I'm not doing anything with that until I've come back from holiday so I'll let you know if I will switch ^_^ I'm going to have a look at the wordpress templates available=)
I'm still working on my moms gloves... really should be hurrying now = I just get bored with the pattern as I've done it so many times now! so it's really hard for me to motivate myself. And then I still have my dad's scarf to do aswell = I'll make it though I'm good with deadlines and pressure hehe I always panick first but then in the end I just manage to get everything done in time somehow=)
we got our new video camera today.. we got it off 24studio you can buy stuff there on credit so you don't have to pay them instantly.. just in parts spread over a certain amount of time =) it's not a brilliant camera but for £99,99 we're happy with it=) we've also got a special video editing program on our computer so I'm planning on making some kool videos with some awesome music and effects hehe I shall post them on here aswell ofcourse=D and we'll be making some kool vids in Holland too and then when we come back Ican show you what my homeland looks like=)

Oops I've been neglecting my blog again! I just always seem to find something to do on the computer and by the time I think of going to do my blog somebody else needs the computer lol I haven't done a whole lot of knitting or crocheting this year so far... I've just been working on some gloves for my mom (they'll be Knucks btw) is a very lovely shade of light faded pink/light faded brown^_^
I'm finally going to visit my family again in February.. on February 11th to be exact hehe =D I'm extremely excited about it! especially considering the fact that I've not been able to see my sister for over a year now! and her birthday is on Feb 19th so I'll also finally be there for the first time in like 2 years.... I know I sound like a horrible sister but it's not like I can just hop on the bus to go see her and being unemployed as I am it's not really easy to afford two plane tickets unfortunatly =(

I can't believe it's the 23rd of December already time has gone so fast! two more days and it's christmas day! woohoo! I'm really excited (as most ppl obviously) because we've got lots of fun things planned! We're getting a load of new board/dvd games for christmas and we'll be playing them allllllll day long haha and I love playing board games so it's gonna be great! I think we're getting Scene It, Trivial Pursuit the 90's and the CSI board game!
I did have a bit of a set back because monday I found out my uncle past away of a heart attack (he was only 65) he was my dad's older brother (he had 4 brothers..now three and 3 sisters) =( I didn't know him very well as I've only ever seen him twice (well I've probably seen him more often but I can only remember those two times) one was back in 1995 when my paternal grandfather past away and I saw him at his cremation ceremony I just remember him very clearly because I remember thinking how his hair was white just like grandpa's =) and then the other time I saw him was the last time I got to go to our family meetup (we meet once a year at my uncle's (different uncle) house to catch up and have fun and eat) and he was there with his wife and two doggies. My mom told me that he and his wife had split up not too long ago for several reasons and he had got a new girlfriend about 4 months ago and that he was happy with her. Yesterday was the day of the cremation ceremony and it was in the same place as my grandfather was cremated (and in the town my granfather was born) and my mom told me it was a very peaceful ceremony and that they each got a flower (my mom was nice and sweet enough to bring one in my and davids name aswell) and put it on the chest as a goodbye. She said it was very emotional (I know that's obvious but it was because of more then the obvious reason), some people told a their memories of him and other things they wanted to say. Even his ex-wife was there and even though they're devorced they had still been together for over 20yrs. His gf was there aswell eventhough they had only been together for 4 moths they were still together. 5 years ago on december 13th my aunt died (my dad's brothers wife) of cancer so as you can imagine it was even more emotional for my uncle (her husband) and everybody is obviously still in grief abou that too. I can't believe i's been 5 yrs it feels like yesterday to me. She had lungcancer and she couldn't be operated on and she had only had chemo not too long ago so that wasn't an option so she was told she wouldn't have long to live. She was the bravest and most unselfish person I've ever known, because the last time I saw her when we visited her in the hospital she told us she wasn't afraid of dying she was only afraid and sad to leave us all behind alone and sad=( she was such a great person aswell I'll always remember her. anyway with all this happening I feel really bad for not being able to be there at the ceremony and to be with my family I know I'll be there sometime in January, but still it's not the same as being there now=( I don't know if I've mentioned it before but not too long ago I got to see the pages of my families family tree book (my parents have a copy and scanned me images of the pages so I could fill it in to this family tree program I've got) and my dads distant relative who's made the book and researched our name found out that the first of our family member mentioned was all the way back in 1500! and when I read through the pages I found out that my family has lived in the same little village (Muggenhool in Zeelst which is near Eindhoven in The Netherlands obviously) for over 200 years and even after that we've always stayed near the village and near Eindhoven. I also found out a majority of my family were weavers which is kinda kool ^_^ It was also really kool to know that mostly everyone that got married and had kids...had around 10 kids lol but that was common back in those days and with Catholic families =) We've even got our own family crest:

So here I am back blogging again...why have I been gone? two words..christmas..presents lol I've done nothinggggg but knit, knit and knit for the past few weeks! it was worth it though cause now I've got a present finished...and if I wouldn't have worked on it that hard then I would never have got it finished so yeah I guess hard work pays off^_^ I still have two presents to knit though so I'm still kind of stressing out here lol
Yesterday I had a "day off" hehe and we went shopping in Sheffield..well in the Sheffield Meadowhall retail park at Hobbycraft to start with to be exact! I was really excited about it because it's one of the few main crafty stores here in the UK so yeah I thought it was going to be heaven lol but to be honest I was a little dissapointed, because they didn't have all that much yarn and the ones they did have were rediculously expensive and not so great anyway apart from a selected few. The knitting needle selection was great though and I actually found myself the most awesome needles ever! lol you can see them at the bottom with all the other pictures^_^ too bad they didn't have those needles in all sizes..they had them in different colours for a few different sizes but only 4 different sizes all together, but they're still awesome hehe =D I also found some kool colour clay that you can put in the oven after shaping so it'll become hard...I've got some pretty kool ideas for it already^_^ other then that I got a pair of red 99p needle protectors..they don't look great but hey atleast they do what they need to do! I also got a little sheet of transparant butterfly stickers to use in my "creative journal" (I really should do something with that again sometime soon lol). I was tempted to buy some cashmerino wool by Rowan *sigh* but yeah you all know how much that costs lol I was just stood there in the aisle feeling that heavenly soft wool lol!
ohhhhhhhh anddd I managed to find myself a copy of Simply Knitting magazine at last!! it had a little free present with it again as always..you can see a pic of that at the bottom aswell^_^ I've asked David if he would get me a perscription for the Simply Knitting magazine for xmas, but he said he'd rather just get me it as a normal present cause he has a better present in mind...so now I've been trying to find out what that is lol grr =P
Anywho here are the pictures and now I've got lots of blog-catching up to do!

Progress so far

those are some pictures of the scarf I've been working on from the Leaf Scarf pattern^_^ sometimes it's really confusing when you loose focus and forget where you were because most rows looks the same but obviously they're not lol and so I've made two mistakes but nothing you can clearly see so it's ok^_^ I'm really loving the sparkley effects you can't really tell on the pictures and I know one of them is out of focus, but our camera has decided it doesn't want to focus when the flash isn't on and I just wanted to show it without the flash so you could see the true colours so I had no choice but to settle with an out of focus picture lol

Happy winter everyone!

Ok so only half of the planet will be in the winter now but I just wanted to say it, just because it's the christmas month and everybody usually starts feeling all christmassy and cozy...or maybe that's just me lol we've done most of our chirstmas shopping and now we've got nearly no money left but it's worth it! I love giving ppl gifts it's so great to give a good present because you know they'll appreciate it^_^ We've even baught some advent calendars.. Over the Hedge advent calendars lol we were hoping for Simpsons but I loved the Over the Hedge movie so it's fine.. it was either that or Barbie lol! If you haven't seen over the hedge yet then you should.. eventhough it's an animated movie it's still really funny and well made! I also realllly enjoyed Monster House it looked amazing for an animated movie and the story was great and fun! I've always loved those type of films.. well ever since they've started excisting anyway^_^
We also watched Pirates of the Carribean:Dead mans Chest not too long ago and I enjoyed it even more then the first one I especially liked how the crew of the Flying Dutchman looked it's amazing^_^
I've given up on crocheting the bolero for my sister I've started a scarf instead... and I don't think she really visits my blog often anyway so I think it's safe to say what pattern I'm using...I've put the link in my right sidebar under the To Do section and the pattern is called Leaf Scarf.. I'm using a sparkley yarn.. it has a golden lurex thread in it so it's really pretty^_^ ...let's just hope shes not reading this now LOL!
Can't post any pictures yet, because I've only just started and I had some problems with the pattern yesterday as I didn't understand what YO was and PSSO aswell but I went to KnittingHelp.com and as usual I'm all good to go now! =D I still have to work on my parents knitted presents aswell so I need to hurry lol I hope I'll get it all done in time!

I've decided that I'm making the Short N Sweet for my sister so I can't show you any progress on here, but I have posted some pics on the 'Ville... but then again I can't post a link LOL I don't think she visits my blog often but I just don't want to risk ruining it^_^ I've finished the back so far and now I'm working on the right front part and surprisingly I've not made any mistakes yet! I've had to ask for help on the ville though but at least I get it now^_^ Oh and since I started this project I've leanrt 3 new stitches! I was that excited about it I had to brag on Crochetville lol! I learned the V-stitch, the FPdc(front post double crochet) and the BPdc(back post double crochet)... the last two sound really confusing but they're really easy and they give such a great effect I really love to use them! I just hope I'll get everything done in time to send everything off for christmas (we're spending christmas in England this year.. we went to Holland last year). And I'm also planning on crocheting or knitting my mom something nice to wear so I can give it to her when we go over to visit next january.. let's face it I'm not fast enough to finish two wearable garments in time for christmas lol looks like I'll have to start making things wayyyyyy earlier next year^_^

I've finally been able to take some pictures to show all the things I've been doing lately! The picture you can see above was taken by me when me and David went to the park about a week ago. I just love how the morning sun shines through the trees it's so beautiful so I just had to take a picture of it and I think it turned out pretty nice^_^ I love autumn it might be cold sometimes but I love all the colours and the leafs blowing around everywhere making everything colourfull^_^ When we were in that park I also collected some leafs which I used in my new art journal and I took some pictures of it.. I've not finished with the left page yet so it's still in progress I'm thinking of drawing around the images I sticked on to the page.. we'll see. Anywho here are some pics of the journal:

I can't turn them into thumbnails for now because Imageshack doesn't want to work today so I'll just try and upload them again tomorrow. With the image being this small the artjournal page just looks like a big mess lol I enjoy doing it anyway so that all that matters isn't it. And hopefully for christmas I'll get some more things I can use in there^_^

I've also taken a picture of the progress I've made in the gloves (Knucks) I'm knitting for my SIL-to be. So here it is:

It doesn't look brilliant yet, but it's the first time I've had to use 2 different colours in this pattern but I'll work it all out in the end. The green also looks alot brighter on the picture then it does in real life. I've just not been really motivated to knit them the last couple of days I think it's because it's the third time I've done this pattern now so it kind of gets boring lol I'm thinking of starting teh bolero tonight or tomorrow I just can't help but want to make it I mean I've even got the wool for it and everything I just NEED to make it! lol^_^ I even took a pic of the wool so you could see the colour it will be. I really like the colour and how it's shiny aswell it's really nice and soft. But Blogger doesn't seem to want to let me put up another picture so it'll have to wait till tomorrow I'm afraid *sigh* can't wait for imageshakc to start working again it's just so much better to be able to put up a thumbnail so you can see the image in the real size instead of having it small and unclear like you get them on here with Blogger. I wish they would just send me that Blogger Beta invite aswell already.. it's a little unfair how some ppl have had an invite and most haven't they should just let you switch when you want. Ohwell I suppose it'll happen soon. Today has been a really cold, windy and rainy day over here it's really starting to feel more like winter then autumn now. The winds blowing that hard you can hear it everywhere. Storm always seems to put the cats into a nutty mood aswell.. they just start running around the house for no reason lol Anywho thats it for today (until I get to fix the pictures) I hope everyone is having a great weekend^_^

That was our Halloween pumpkin and to be honest that was the best thing about it lol We didn't get many trick or treaters.. I think we only handed sweets our like 3 times so we still had lots left.. and still have some left now, but I doubt it'll last much longer lol!I have been working on my SIL's Knucks and I've nearly finished knitting the first glove so that's coming along nicely. She asked me to knit in stripes, which I hadn't done before with the Knucks so I actually learned something new aswell^_^ The main colour is green and the stripes on them are black (leftovers from Davids knucks) so they look pretty kool.. well the first one does anyway lol I'm wanting to use the textured cuff on them but I've heard so many complaints about them that I've decided to wait until I've got time to knit a second pair for myself just to see what it will look like. I'm not sure what colour I'm wanting to make them yet I'm thinking of using a more neutral colour then pink hehe. But yeah I've still got lots to do before I can even start those so we'll see when I'll start them^_^ Corrine (my SIL-to be) also asked me if I could make her a tanktop so I'm going to see if I can find a kool pattern and decide weather I'll knit or crochet it. Looks like I'm going to have to delay the Bolero I was going to crochet for myself, but that's ok atleast I'll get some presents done for x-mas.Last time I posted we went for a walk in the park and I also bought some things from my birthday money.. a Notebook which I'm using as my "creative journal", some stickers I'll be using in the journal, some craft glue, some colour pens and two new bookmarks.. I love their (the Works) bookmarks so now I've got nearly all of them lol! My "notebook" has a fairy with glitters on the front and it's a hardback cover so that's kool. I actually picked up some leafs when we were in the park and I put some in my journal and looked up on the internet from what trees they're from so I could write it down. I'll take some pictures soon. I'm actually wanting to create the effect that I've seen on this page, except they did it in old books, hence the name "altered books" lol. I just love the way it looks and I especially love all the vintage images.. I'll have to find some somewhere I guess you can find them online and print them out. Am I the only one who loves this? I think it's great. Although I couldn't possibly use an old book that I actually love.. I'd have to use a book about something useless lol!Anyhow I hope everyone has had a great Halloween! Woohoo I've finally been able to upload my new blog template! I actually finished it a few days ago, but Blogger was having problems and it wouldn't let me republish my blog or post anything so I had to wait.. which was hard because I was anxious to show everybody what I had been working on! I'm still not completely finished.. need to work on a few things here and there but I'm getting there! So what do you all think?^_^ I'm going to town now and see if I can spend some of my birthday money teehee and maybe walk in the park a bit and collect some autumn leaves. I've been looking through all the new patterns on Knitty and CrochetMe and I've found lots that I want to do, but I actually saw two that I NEEED to do they're just so fab... Ivy and Intolerable Cruelty I just love them!
I think that, because I haven't done any knitting or crocheting for a while, my hands have started to get restless and in need to touch yarn lol I'm just still trying to decide what to start with first.. my SIL-to be Knucks that I promised to knit over 2 months ago (lol) or the crocheted Bolero from the Happy Hooker book. I also still need to knit my MIL some Knucks so I'm thinking of doing those first.. I always hate the first bit of the Knucks.. the whole tightness of the needles when your connecting the fingers together and starting the first few rounds of the glove, but then when I'm actually doing it I love it and it seems to go superfast depending on how much time I've got to knit. Yeah I've just decided I'm going to finish all the promised Knucks first I'd only feel selfish to start something for myself again when I actually said I'd knit them things aswell.. besides I like giving things away that I've enjoyed making (well to people who I know will appreciate it anyway lol)^_^ I'd do it all the time if I'd just have some more money to buy all the things I need to make all the things I'd want to give to people *sigh* ohwell maybe someday^_^
I've just finished reading Mary Reilly by Valerie Martin and I loved it. I remember reading Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for English class when I was in school and I remember I loved the book and when I found this book in a charityshop I had to buy it just to read the story from a different point of view and I'm glad I did. I just love reading books about Victorian days even more so by actual Victorian writers, prefably female writers, I don't know why I just love the stories because they usually give away so much detail like what people ate back in those days and how they dressed and how they talked. It's sometimes funny to read dialects because they oftenly still talk the same.. like in the book I've started reading right now (Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte) Emily actually lived up here in Yorkshire and so far I've already found a few dialogues with Yorkshire accents in it and it's funny because I can actually understand it because everyone around me speaks it... about two years ago I wouldn't have understood a word of it! I love the Bronte novels and the fact that all the sisters are from Yorkshire. I've not yet been to Thornton, but I will someday soon. I think I like Anne best I read her life story and so far one of her books (The tenant of Wildfell Hall, I even made a drawing of the main character in the book I loved it that much lol) and it ended up being one of my favourite books ever. I've not been able to find her other book anywhere yet, it's called Agnes Grey and supposedly it's based on her own life experiences. I went to Scarborough not too long ago and before we went I read that that's where she died and that she walked along the beach the day before she passed away. So when I walked along that beach I remembered and it was strange to realise she was there over 150 years ago and saw the same things I saw (not much has changed) and I know why she loved it there so much cause I love it the same. Although I wouldn't live there as that would take away it's specialness^_^ wow I've been rambling on and on lol Am I the only one that loves all (well minus the dirty circumstances they had to live in and all that lol) things Victorian? Have any of you ever read Wuthering Heights? Old books like these always have difficult or old words in them which I like because it means I'm learning at the same time.. yes I'm a geek.

Hmm Chocolate...

That is the cake I made for Davids birthday last sunday^_^ It turned out to taste reallly good so I was really happy about that! It was a chocolate sponge cake and I put strawberry jam in the middle and I covered it in melted milkchocolate which became hard after being in the fridge for a while^_^ It was a bit awkward to mix it all because we don't own a mixer ..not even a hand mixer lol so I had to do it with a fork, but it turned out great so it was worth it!^_^

Well as I said last time I lined it when I got my sewingmachine and this is what it looks like with the lining in it:

I think it ended up looking fine for my second attempt at lining ever^_^
My first attempt was in my cableknit bag and well it didn't turn out perfect but it's bearable lol I made a mistake when I put in the handles.. I accidently put them too much too the side on one end which you can see in the picture but ohwell it's not like anyone can tell when I'm carrying it.. and not like anyone would notice anyway lol Here is one side of the bag.. and as always Kallie was being nosey as you can see hehe:

The holes in the lining will become the button holes btw. All in all I'm quite happy with it^_^
One last picture for now to show and that's of my sewingmachine yes I'm sad lol It's a Janome Sew Mini.. it's not all that mini it's only a tad bit smaller then a normal sewing machine and it does 8 different stitches plus it has a special thing to sew in zippers and everything so I'm really happy with it!
The last couple of days I've been down with the flu which is not so great... it feels like I've been hit in the face with a block of concrete and my nose keeps running..when it's not blocked that is and all the sneezing is giving me a bad headache *sigh*. I actually got it because David had it first and then he passed it on to me and his mom and her bf lol so now we're all sat here coughing and sniffing and talking all nasal! ohwell I think I've been quite lucky because I've not had a proper cold for almost 2 years now so yeah that's not too bad considering some people get it all the time. That just shows I must have a good immune system and having the flu every now and then only improves it so I've heard.
I don't know if I'm the only one who play the Sims but the other day the new add on came out called The Sims2 Pets and it's great to have something different to create and have in the game.. I like decorating and creating sims the best it's just so much fun =P I've always thought of it as a digital 3d version for adults of playing with dolls/barbies hehe^_^
I can't believe it's going to be Halloween again soon already, it still feels like it should be summer to me. It's strange for me to have Halloween anyway because they don't celebrate it in Holland well not when I was growing up anyway they only introduced it like 3 years ago so I never got to do it until I moved to England and thsi will be my second Halloween and yesterday I even baught a witches hat so I can open the door in a more fun way! and David got a scary mask hehe and we also baught lots of sweets to hand out so at least we're prepared^_^ I hope they'll show Caspar on tv again I love that movie (with Christina Ricci)!
I've still not started on my Bolero from the Happy Hooker book, but I'm thinking of starting tomorrow so we'll have to see how that turns out it'll be my first ever crocheted wearable item!^_^

It's been a while since I've posted.. infact it's been a while since I've been on blogger at all. I came on last night to see if I've had any comments and I was actually surprised to see that I've been missed^_^ I was like awww you guys are all worried about me hihi^_^ I really appreciate your concern and I've missed you all too! I've got lots of catching up to do with your blog posts and then on Crochetville ofcourse aswell!^_^ So thank you Vik, Jeanie and Amy it's always nice to know you've got some friends.. if you don't mind me calling you that^_^
As you know I was obviously upset by the death of Steve Irwin and it really got to me and made me sad for ages... I don't know why it got to me that bad but it did. I actually felt guilty for not having done as much for the environment and the animals and the world as Steve and Terri have done I felt like I should be doing lots of things just like they do and actually felt like doing things like knitting and crochet weren't important enough so I hadn't done it for ages. I hope I'm not sounding weird now btw. But meanwhile I've come to realise as I've been reading lots about Terri and Steve's lives, that even they do different things that they like and I was being too hard on myself. You can still love animals and do things for the environment and have a hobby. This all might sound crazy or weird but this is really how I felt, please don't think I'm crazy lol. I'm still sad that he's dead and his family is in my thoughts everyday (poor Terri I feel so sad for her and also Bindi and Bob and Steve's dad and sisters ofcourse =( ) and I will never forget him and I'll forever make sure he'll never be forgotten (along with millions of other people) and I'll never forget everything I've learned from him. I also try to catch his shows on Animal Planet and Discovery kids as often as I can just because they're so much fun to watch^_^ I've always loved animals and I know my fair bit about them, but for some reason I never thought of working with them up until this all happend. I've been looking for jobs with animals everywhere and so far no luck, but I'm not giving up^_^
Anywho, it was my birthday on October 4th and I turned 22!^_^ I got lots of presents including the sewingmachine I've wanted for ages.. I got that from my darling David^_^ I've been practising loads on spair fabric and I even managed to finish my cable knit bag (still need to sew on the buttons but apart from that it's done)!! it's not perfect (the sewing) but I'm pretty happy with the results and I even used it going to the shops yesterday! I also put the lining in my In Bloom clutch from the Happy Hooker book so that's finally finished.. well it needs a button again but apart from that it's done^_^ I've got lots of pictures to take lol!
My mom sent me a really nice pair of trousers, 2 nice tops and some pices of fabric to use on the sewingmachine. Including a piece of corduroy fabric with a pattern to sew a skirt! it's really nice light brown corduroy with printing on it.. pictures are coming soon^_^ I'm just kind of sacred to use the fabric because I don't want to ruin it hehe so yeah I'm still practising^_^
My sister also sent my a really nice shirt with a little drawn tiger on it that I'm wearing right now and some perfume (Love by Morgan) and matching bodylotion, so now I can't help but smell even nicer everyday^_^ She also added a scented candles set^_^ And they both sent David some shirts aswell (my sis gave him a Foo Fighters shirt and my mom gave him two casual t-shirts) for his birthday which is TOMORROWWW btw hehe ^_^ he will turn 22 aswell.. he was born 11 days after me^_^ He already claimed his present from me which was a Playstation2.. he said he used to have one years ago and loved the games so he really wanted to have it again and as he's really impatient he just had to have it the day I baught it which was a few weeks ago lol I am however baking him a cake either today after I've finished this post or tomorrow morning... which I'm kind of scared of ruining lol This will be the second time I'll bake a cake on my own and last time it.. lets say disastrously failed, but I blame that on the fact that it was a real difficult cake and I was confused with the recipe *sigh* so yeah I'm really hoping I'll do it right this time. It will be a chocolate cake and just to be on the safe side I baught a cake mix lol so if this goes wrong I don't think I'll ever bake anything again! so please cross your fingers for me^_^
My next project is going to be the bolero from the Happy Hooker book. I'm not really sure if I can do it though because the yarn I'm going to use has a different gauge then the pattern uses but I'm just going to go for it and see if I can do it and if it turns out smaller then I'll just add some rows and vice versa^_^ Has anyone done that bolero yet? I've never crocheted a wearable item before so I can't wait to see how it turns out!
The weather over here has really turned around in the last couple of days.. it was still like summer out there up until last week when it suddenly started to be a bit chilly.. normally it all happens gradually but it was just weird.. one day it was sunny and warm and the next it was foggy and rainy and cold. And people still claim that climate change isn't something to worry about.. pfft I learned about it when I was in school and I've always taken it seriously... if only more people had then we wouldn't have had this problem anymore. I really don't have time for people who are ignorant about the environment and nature. wow I've been rambling for ages lol I better stop now!

I still can't believe it.. Steve Irwin is dead =( I've been depressed ever since I heard about it yesterday after coming home from town. It was really weird too because while we were in town we went into a bookshop and they had a Crocodile Hunter book on sale and we actually picked it up and giggled because it was a kids book with pop-up things in it and a cd and it had pages filled with just his phrases like "Crikey!"...I wish I baught it now =( It's just so strange to know he died by being stabbed in the heart by a stingrays barb... he would have been fine if he would've been stabbed somewhere else.. it's just not fair why do all the good people always have to pass away too soon =(I don't know why I'm so upset about it, I didn't even know him but we used to always watch him on telly and I learned so much from him and his wife. It must be so hard for her to loose the one she loves I feel so sorry for his family I wish I could send them some strength =(
I loved everything he did and stood for not to mention faught for. I wish there were more people like him out there. I've heard that lots of australians don't like him because they think he made them look like "stereotypical australians", but that's not true he made them look like people who love their country and animals and take care of their animals and land. If I was Australian I would be proud to be compared to him.
"Crikey mate" you will be missed Steve, may you rest in peace =(

Progress!

I've finally gotten rid of my lazy moods hehe I finished knitting the bagpart and I've sewn up the sides so now I have to knit the bag handles, sew in the lining and attach the buttons and then it'll be finito!^_^
So far it looks like this:

I'm going to use 2 of these buttons on the bag:

I know they're not anything special but they're all I have...I actually had to take them off this old pair of gloves that I have and the buttons didn't really have any use on them so I figured they may aswell have a purpose!
I'm using some leftover black fabric for the lining and I'm kind of anxious about sewing it in as I haven't got a clue how to! I think I'm going to wait until I get the sewingmachine for my bday so it'll look nicer, but I still won't know how to... so if anyone has any tips on how to sew in lining then pleaseeee help me out^_^
Asides from that we (me, David and his sis) have been playing this new xbox360 game called Saints Row all day (well they played mostly I knitted the whole time I only played for like 45mins)... David has been anticipating this game for like a year so he was really excited about it and we even pre-orderd it and got a free Saints Row t-shirt with it! How kool is that^_^ I usually tend to like role-playing games like Oblivion and Fable (I've completed that twice) I like adventure games it's just more fun...I do like shoot-em up games but only for like half an hour just when I'm tired of playing other games. I also LOVED playing Thief: Deadly Shadows unfortunatly that's the only one they braught out on xbox (there are 4 different Thief games). I loved the story in it and the whole atmosphere in the game I wish they would make another one and I've heard rumours that they will but who knows when and if it's true. I do know they their making a Fable2 though so I'm excited about that... yes,yes I know.. games are for kids, but I guess I still am a kid when it comes to videogames^_^
sorry to ramble on about games instead of the usual stuff, but I'm sure I'm not the only knitting/crocheting/crafting/artist out there who likes games aswell??

Anyway, I haven't really done much knitting this weekend I didn't do any yesterday so I'm still only 3/4 done with the cable bag, but I'm going to do some more today so hopefully the last part of the bag will be done tonight and all I'll have to do then is knit the handles and sew it all up and put some lining in.
We've actually been watching the AllStar Cup on ITV1 lol it's just funny to see Alice Cooper, Meatloaf and Bruce Forsyth play golf hehe. There's even one Dutch person playing...Ruud Gullit.. people won't even know who he is unless your Dutch or into footy. I normally would never watch golf I find it boring, but I don't know if I would find it boring to play because I've never played it and I want to give it a try one day. The only sports I'm good at are basketball and fieldhockey, I'm ok at football as long as I'm not in the goal (for some reason I like to dive away from the ball instead of catch it..) lol! I think that if I was born as a boy I would've been a football player right now, because my dad used to be the coach/trainer of a football team when we still lived in Eindhoven (Holland), until we moved when I was almost 6...back in 1990(..omg that sounds like a century away lol). My whole family is inevitably connected with Brabant (it's a province in the south of Holland)...especially my dad's side of the family. I even know of a street in Eindhoven (Halve Maan straat) which is filled with people that have the same last name as me lol and almost everyone in that part of the family used to work for Philips, which used to just make light bulbs, but is now one of the worlds biggest electronics company, you can read the history on their site when you click on Philips.. it might be boring to you but as it's so connected to my family and to where I'm from I think it's kind of kool how it got to be such a big company. Maybe I'm just boring lol. I love going back to Brabant, I think I have at least one family member living in each of the towns in that province, not to mention that it's a really nice place to visit. It always seems that the more you go downsouth in Holland the more green gets and the more hills there are (there are basically no hills whatsoever in 90% of Holland except for downsouth lol) and I love my fields and hills and green land (I don't think I could ever live in a big city I'd get bored) which is probably why I love it here in Yorkshire^_^ I think I love the Peak District even more it's so beautiful. I went there for the first time a few months ago and I was just in awe at all the green and hills and I LOVED driving through Winnats Pass near Castleton... it's hard to explain how awesome it was driving through it but in the Winnats Pass picture you can see how tiny that person looks so you can tell how huge it is and imagine driving through it!^_^ We also went inside a few caves in that area, we went to the Blue John Cavern which is the only cave in the world that has Blue John in it so that was pretty kool. And then we went to the Speedwell Cavern which was just before Winnats Pass and you tour through the tunnel in a small boat, because the tunnels are flooded, I liked seeing the Bottomless pit and being on a boat instead of walking for a change.

Meanwhile I've been working on my cabled bag and I'm almost 3/4 done so it's going well! I'm still thinking about what kind of handles I'm wanting to use and If I'm just going to sew up the sides or if I'm going to knit two pieces to put in the sides so the bag will be wider. We'll see.

I've finally got paid... what? yes I've got MONEY lol so yesterday we went to a few shops and ended up in this lil shop called Eu Naturel and I ended up buying some oil pastel crayons so I might be working with them soon. I'll have to find an actual object to draw this time^_^

Has anyone ever seen Ariana Richards art? If you don't know her by name then you might know her when I tell you that she was the little girl in Jurassic Park, she's obviously grown up now and well as you can see she's really good at what she does! I wish I knew what I was doing with oil paints alredy so I could have a proper go at it...maybe I should get a college course in painting?^_^

Yesterday I had been doodling with watercolours and this is what I came up with:

I know it's not brilliant but I'm still new to watercolours so I guess I did ok. I made it all up as I went along so maybe it'll look better when I use an actual object to paint^_^
I also has a go on Photoshop after being inspired by this awesome style of art by Siljes on her blog and I really wanted to try it so here is what I came up with in my first attempt:

She told me she uses Adobe Illustrator and I didn't even know that program excisted hehe so I downloaded the trial version yesterday and I'll be trying it out today so hopefully I can come up with another one^_^ What do you think? I know it's simple but that's the way it's supposed to be...I think hehe I know I could do better it's just a quick trial project so hopefully I'll be able to make a better one soon!

I've also got some progress on the cabled bag, I'm almost halfway through already^_^ In this first ball of Fusion yarn I've had a lot of the mustard type of colour so I'm hoping to have some more of the purple and blua and red in the next ball just to have some contrasts^_^

Asides from that I'm also trying to design a new template for my blog and I'm about half way done but I'm hoping to be able to do better now I've got Adobe Illustrator as you have a section just for templates^_^ I think that I'll be changing my templates often once I get the hand of it just to keep my blog fresh and new! I'm kind of bored of this everylasting black already to be honest hehe so I hope I'll have it done soon so you can all see it!

I've been working on my first cable knitted project for a few days now. I was planning on making the cabled bag from Garnstudio, but in the beginning the diagram confused me so I tried to do the "not Nicole bag" by Tonya, but I didn't have the yarn for it so after trial and error I decided to do my own pattern which is a mixture of both patterns. The yarn I'm working with (Fusion by Wendy) doesn't work up very tight so I had to drop a few needle sizes to get a better tension and even now I think I could do it a little tighter, but it'll have to do hehe^_^
Anyway here is what I've done so far:

I'm loving the colours so far as it's never just one colour and it's fun to see the colours work out. I'm writing it all down as I go along so I could put up the pattern if anyone will be interested^_^
I didn't go to the interview today because I found out in the letter that they sent me that it would only be for a weekend parttime job and I wouldn't make enough money from it to even bother. Yesterday when we rang the jobcenter to enquire about when we're going to get paid there was a whole lot of confusion and at one point they actually thought they had left our forms (which would mean that we would have to put in a new claim and it would take at least another 2 weeks before we would see any money) so we kind of freaked out, but it turned out that (after 5 weeks) our forms had been sent to a decision maker and we would find out when we would get paid in the next few days...*sigh* ohwell on the bright side it means that they owe use 4 weeks of money so at least that's something to look forward to. sorry for the whiney part of the post but I had to vent somewhere. I'm just glad I have some yarn left so I can still keep crocheting and knitting lol^_^

I've negelected my blog a little the last few days, but I have been doing things!
I've actually finished my fiances Knucks as you can see...well minus the embroidery because he couldn't make his mind up about what he wanted on them until last night and he wants a skull and crossbones embroidered on the tophand part of each Knuck^_^ but I haven't got any white laying around so when we have some money I'll go to the LYS and see if they have a little ball of white yarn or embroidery floss^_^
I also added some cute pics of Molko and Rolo who love the cat blanky so far and Bob does too but he's hardly ever downstairs and when he is I always forget to take a picture hehe aren't they adorable though^_^ I sometimes call Molko "pinkylip" because his bottom lip is all pink and it's so cute! he's the biggest cat in the house along with Rolo who is his brother (you could probably tell) and they're both the biggest softies ever! they always want to be strocked and get kisses and come and lay down on your lap/chest and rub their faces against yours^_^ and I also added a pic of our cheeky little Kallie who's always being a lil bugger as you can see on the picture...he only just turned one^_^ we got him from Davids aunt who's cat had too more kittens then she could take care of so we took care of 3 of them for her when they were about 3 weeks old..we had to feed them everyday and help them peepee and everything until they were old enough to eat proper food and we ended up keeping Kallie^_^ It was really hard to give the other kittens back though and sadly one of them died meanwhile..he got attacked by a dog after we gave him back=(. We gave Kallie this snake toy to snuggle up to and play with so he wouldn't feel alone and he has loved that snake ever since and he's always dragging it along around the house in his mouth and playing with it...he even gets all panicky and makes funny noises when he can't find it lol bless him^_^
Anyway I've also started to knit the Garnstudio cable bag...I wanted to start the "Not Nicole" bag with Tonya's pattern but my yarn isn't bulky enough for a 9mm needle and it left huge holes when I tried to knit it so I will do that one after this bag^_^ I didn't have the right circular needle for this bag neither though and as I have no money whatsoever right now I figured I'd improvise and knit it on straight needles and sew the sides together at the end. I hope it will all work out ok...we'll see I guess hehe! I'm loving the colours of the yarn though as I'm knitting along (I'm using the Fusion yarn by Wendy that I got a while ago...and got all excited about lol) and I can't wait to begin the first cable! I'm going to use my dpn as a cable needle. If everything is going well I'll post a photo of it tomorrow^_^
Oh I almost forgot I went on the interview last wednesday and it went fine, but I found out that I'd have to be working from 6-10pm so I cannot do that job, I have to rely on the public transport and then I'd have to walk ages in the dark on a lonely quiet road...I don't think so! They told me I should "arrange" some transport then...how will I do that when there no one that can take me to work or pick me up from work?!? they just assume everyone knows someone with a car or that they drive themselves. Davids mum's bf drives yeah but he has to work all day and he's not going to drive all that way everyday to comeback in 4 hours to pick me up again that'd just be rediculous. Besides I wouldn't want to work at those hours anyway there's only be creeps coming into the shop at those hours!
I did however get another interview at a bakery/sandwhich take away shop (Bakers Oven) and it's next wednesday at 10am. I guess I'll be walking to town next week then as I'm completely skint and the jobcenter hasn't paid us for almost 5 weeks now and I'm not expecting them to pay next week neither...&#&^% jobcenter! Let's hope it won't be raining then eh? oh the glorious world of being unemployed lol

That's the clutch I've been working on the last couple of days^_^ I probably could've finished it in a day if I worked on it constantly that's how fast it is to work up! I still have to put the lining in though, but I'm thinking of waiting with that until I have my sewingmachine so it'll look perfect^_^ btw I used the pattern from the SnB:HH book it's the InBloom clutch. So what do you think? I thought one colour would be boring so I used 2 colours instead. The grey is really a sports weight yarn and the pink is chunky worsted weight so I had to use 2 strands together when working with the grey. I'm quite happy with it so far YAY!
Today I've mostly been working on the pictures I've sent in for the Knitty 2007 Calendar contest. I obviously used the Knucks for the pictures hehe I had David (my fiance) take pictures of me wearing the Knucks and then I kind of played with it on Photoshop. Tell me what you think:

With the first image I was trying to show how I love wearing my knucks and they make me feel like I'm wearing something pretty^_^
With the second image I was trying to show how I've seen that the Knucks are taking over the world^_^ Does any of that stand out of the images?
Today has been rather cold..it's been a while since it's been this chilly I even had to warm up to a hot drink...ooh that means that the autumn will be coming soon I've even seen how some trees are already starting to turn brown. Isn't it a little early though it usually happends somewhere around the middle of September..that's global warmer for you I guess. But hey it's our own fault we had it coming for years and people still don't see the urge in changing our ways to help the earth to heal. They only care about themselves claiming that, it's not going to happen while they're alive anyway so why should they bother, it's not their problem.. Well that's all I have to say about that I could start a whole disscussion about it hehe but it's no use..people like that won't listen anyway.
I decided to join the Dishcloth KAL aswell yesterday and made some buttons for it. I figured it won't start until the 15th of september anyway so I'll have all the things I'm working on now long finished.

Perfectionist

Well there it is the blanket with border. I guess it looks a little bit better, but I think it still looks wonky. And I can't help but want to put another border on it hoping it will end up looking better, but I know that's just the perfectionist in me and my logical me is telling me I'm being silly and that I should just leave it as it is and called it a FO! I hate being a Libra sometimes...we just can't make a decision and when we have, we doubt it lol grr. What do you think, should I just leave it like this?

While I was doing the border and weaving in the ends everybody else was watching a movie called Serenity but I wasn't really in the mood to watch a movie so I didn't pay much attention...although from what I did see was that it looked like a poo movie and now I'll have to put up with the fact that we'll be watching through the whole dang series (FireFly) aswell *sigh*. It was probably just my mood though that affected my opinion, that's why I hate watching things when I'm simply not in the mood for it. I could've gone into the other room and sit on my own...but yeah..thats no fun now is it.
The only time when I want to be alone is when I'm drawing or painting, I just really need the peace and concentration. I do like to have music on though, especially Tori Amos or Bjork their music really helps me focus and it inspires me^_^ I should really do some more drawing soon or maybe some painting..I just hate how we don't have any space in this house. I love living here don't get me wrong, but we only have 3 bedrooms (our bedroom is about 2x2 1/2 square meters), 1 bathroom (including the only toilet...unless you want to use the outhouse..which is just a no-no lol..btw just so you know..no we don't use it anymore =P I had never seen an outhouse in my life until I came to the UK hehe which most ppl don't use anymore btw), a small kitchen, 1 frontroom (that doesn't fit anything more in then 2 comp desks with pc's and a 2seat sofa with coffee table) which is about 4 1/2 x 4 square meters, 1 backroom which is the same size and has a tv and a 2seat sofa and a rocking chair in it.. and I live with my fiance and we live in with his mom (and her fiance) and his sis so yeah you can image it's kinda tight and I will be happy when we have our own place and I can have a lil studio or at least space of my own to work in^_^ Finding our own place is like falling into an endless pit aswell..we have been on the counsel houses list for almost 2 years now and we are waiting for a reply about 3 flats that we have put our names in for about a month ago, but we can't get too excited because most places don't like younger people because they had bad experiences with younger people so now we have to suffer for it and we will probably never get any of those flats. I hope that if I get the job and we will both have a decent income we can start looking for a private house or flat to rent, because I don't want to live here for the rest of my life I do eventually want a place of our own you know? Anyway, I was working on my first oilpainting on a canvas a while ago, but it didn't really come out the way I wanted it to...I've never had any art classes for painting or anything so I have to teach myself or learn from books. The main thing about oilpainting that I don't get yet is how to get your paint to be as thin as you want and how you paint without being able to see the brush marks. I suppose I will learn as I go along^_^ One of my favourite artists is J.W. Waterhouse along with Joanne Bird I just love their paintings^_^

Yesterday I got a call from ChoicesUK saying that they want me to come over for an interview next wednesday! yayay! it kind of scares me at the same time, because it will be the first time that I'll be working in England and I haven't been on an interview for a while so I'll be dead nervous 0_0 It will only be a parttime job but to be honest I'm quite happy about that because that way I'll still have enough time to keep up with my knitting and crocheting =P My fiance was already saying that if I get the job I'll have to take home lots of promotional stuff from movies and games...especially Superman lol He likes Superman lots and not to forget ANYTHING from Saint's Row or GTA^_^
Well I finished my cat blanket aswel...as you can tell I'm kind of hiding it in the middle of my post...I'm just not really happy with the outcome. I wish I would have blocked all the squares before attaching it all together and finding out they'd all be bent and some uneven. I've just never blocked anything before so I didn't think of it. Thanks for the tip again Vik!
Ok well I assume your all just dying to see my wonky blanket (mind my enthousiasm lol!)...so here it is:

Is it really as bad as I'm fearing it is? I was going to felt it to hide it's hideousness a little but then I suddenly rememberd that I used 100% acrylic yarn so there wasn't going to be any felting *sigh* it feels lovely and soft and it smells devine though heehee^_^ I still have to weave in the loose ends obviously. All the cats except for one (Bigsey the most scaredy cat on the planet lol) have been kind of cautious of the new blanket so far, but I'm sure that when I weave in the ends and I put it down on the sofa they'll get used to it. I mean they even like to lay on plastic bags when there is one on the floor hehe! Oh and I just got a great tip from someone on Crochetville...she said I should crochet a border around it which would make it straight^_^ woohoo there's hope afterall!
I've decided that I'm not going to make the Garnstudio bag just yet, instead I'm going to practise cables first by using the pattern from Tonya^_^ So thank you somuch for that Tonya! I'm not going to use wooden handles though..I'm thinking of crocheting a strap myself or maybe two handles^_^
I found out about this kool festival yesterday along with my new fav knit cast called BritKnitCast^_^ anyway the festival is called Woolfest...you can hear all about it in episode 3 of the knitcast aswell. I just wish I would have found out about it before it actually happend lol it was in Cumbria in June I think *sigh* but I'm deffinatly wanting to go next year! I mean it'll be like heaven...yarn everywhere and people who love it just as much as you do!^_^
I am however thinking of going to the Penistone Show...it's not to far from where I live and it's basically a farmers market but they also do lots of crafty things including knitting and crocheting^_^ plus it will also have horses there, I love horses! I used to ride when I was younger but then the lessons got kind of expensive so I stopped, but if I could I would start again now.

I've just found out about this magazine called Knitscene and I've seen loadsss of projects in the newest issue that I want to make! I deffinatly want to make the Molly Ringwald top, the crocheted "graffiti" top, the central park hoodie (I love it!), (maybe) the "mint Julep", Camisa and Flamenco (look at the bonus photo it's a lot more detailed)...why are there always so many things I want to knit or crochet!!!
I'll have to look in every shop to find it hopefully and if not then I'll see if I can buy it on here, they seem to have reasonable prices^_^
I'm still not sure what to make with my fabulous new wool...i LOVEE it hehe it's so soft I can't stop touching it heehee *geek*^_^ I really want to make something that I can wear but it has to be something I REALLY like and the colours are to beautiful to hide so I have to show it off =P I'm still having a tug of war between the lacey bolero, a bag (this one or this one) or maybe a hat? *sigh*
Anyway I'm off to join all my granny squares (I've finally finished them all YAY!! so you'll hopefully be seeing the results tomorrow!) and watch CSI:Miami and some Kyle XY afterwards^_^

All say: "OOOoohhh"^_^ it's my new wool isn't it pretty? I'm really excited about it *yes I'm a geek*, because it's the first beautiful and kind of expensive yarn (it costs about £3 per ball) I've ever had! And it's sooooooo soft too!^_^ It's called "Fusion" by Wendy and it's 50% wool, 50%acrylic. It's the first time since I've been to our LYS that I've seen such beautiful yarn and they have it in several different colours aswell!^_^ I'm just trying to figure out what to make with it and if I'm going to crochet with it or knit with it...anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of making a shrug...I've only got two 50g balls for now but I could always get more eventually so I'm going to be busy finding the perfect pattern for it^_^ I also really like the lacy Bolero from the SnB:HH book. It's a short sleeved lacy bolero and I like the idea of having something lightweight and airy to wear over my tops^_^
Last night I crocheted 3 more squares...I don't know what it was but I kept getting distracted so I didn't get much done but I'm planning on getting more done tonight...I WILL!!
It was jobcentre time again today *sigh* if you live in the UK and you have been on jobseekers allowance or incapacity benefits then you know what my day has been like. Let's just say I REALLLY want a job, because I'm so sick and tired of being screwed over by the jobcentre. There's always something, always a problem (seriously why would it take 2 weeks for a form with our info on it to get a different floor in the same building?!?), always a delay in payment, always making us pay for their cock-ups, I've just had it. I also found out that the job for the bakery had already gone, ohwell. Haven't heard back from ChoicesUK yet neither and Icelands wasn't looking for any new staff. *sigh* Ohwell all I can do is check the papers everyday and the jobcentre website. Which btw isn't very helpful...when you try to look for local jobs it comes up with places like Glasgow and Devon..eh?!? I live in Yorkshire not Scotland or downsouth lol
Seriously, the only positive thing about today was that I got some fab yarn...and the look on my fiances face when I told him how much it had cost LOL (he didn't mind really^_^).
Sorry for the crappy post, but I had to vent somewhere. I hope everybody is having a nice day/evening.

Lately I've just been busy making my granny squares because I want it finished so I can continue with the Knucks again. I'm planning on making a cat blanket out of it so I'll only need 20 squares instead of 25 like it says in the CAL but I don't think that'll be a problem^_^ I've finished 10 squares now and I'll probably do like 5 more tonight. I would've had more done but you're about to find out why I didn't hehe.
We watched a movie last night and it was a spooky type of movie so we had to turn off the lights so I coudln't really see what I was doing. Anyway the movie was called The Descent. If you want to be spooked and have nightmares afterwards and lay in your bed staring at the ceiling looking for creatures then go watch it now! lol Or maybe I'm just a wimp but that movie was the first since years that I was actually scared by. So that in my eyes is one good movie! I've heard that it has a different ending in the US though which kinda stinks because the UK version (as it is an English movie) is a lot more explanatory for the ending. I read on IMDB what they gave for an ending in the US and well it's basically like telling a lie. If anyone has seen this movie and you want to know the real ending then let me know and I'll tell you^_^

Last night I was working on the granny squares for the CAL and once again I realised I had forgotten that the dc is a FULL treble in UK(european)terms and I had been doing half trebles (SC in us terms) DUH! so after 2 squares...*ahem* yes that's how long it took me to realise (LOL)..I did the 3rd one correct and I redid the other two aswell. This morning when I was finishing the last square from last night, I realised I had been doing the last 2 squares without reading the pattern and I was doing fine...in fact I was starting to get bored. I also found out that with the yarn I have I'm not going to be able to make 25 squares and right now I can't really afford to buy yarn for something I don't know what to do with when finished. I suppose in the end I could turn it into a catblanket^_^ they'll have to wait till I have more leftover yarn though and deal with the fact that the colours won't match lol! Anyway I was thinking I've done several crochet projects (5 I think?) now and I've mastered all the basic stitches, so does that mean I'm no longer a newbie?

Last night we watched a movie called Sweet November, I've seen it before, but I never noticed that Charlise Theron was knitting a scarf in the movie and later on actually wears that scarf^_^ I just thought it was kinda kool...geez I'm such a kint/crochet freak! I can't help but notice all the knitted/crocheted things on telly or in movies! obsessed much? lol

I think I'll start the 2nd Knuck for my fiance tonight^_^ I'll leave you with a pic of my *fab* granny squares.

Theres loads more I want to make...and when I say loads I mean LOADSSSSSSS lol but I'm going to stick with this list for a while and see if I can manage to make all of them...I hope so^_^ ...wow it really does help to vent on here hehe I think I just needed to make a list so that my mind could become abit more clear^_^
I didn't work on the Knucks last night I was trying to crochet my first granny square ever, but half way through I found out there was something wrong with the pattern so today I found a different one and I'll be trying that tonight. I'm in a CAL for that btw you can find the link for it in my sidebar (the one called Newbie CAL), I made the linkbutton for the CAL aswell, I think it turned out pretty well if I say so myself^_^
I'm hoping we'll be going to town soon because I'm wanting to apply for that job in the bakery...you're thinking why don't you just go? well I'd like to but like I've said many times before it costs rediculously much just to take the bus and go to town and we aren't the richest ppl in the world so we have to plan going to town so we can do everything we need to do in town in that one time. *sigh* having no money stinks lol
Oh yeah I was wondering...I've seen many ppl that put links in their comments here on blogger, but I can't manage to do it! How do you do that??

lately I've been doing so many things at the same time that by the time I had to come off our pc (we all have to share this pc) I still hadn't posted anything on my blog lol
yesterday I spent most of my time on the comp creating an avatar for somebody on Crochetville I just completely lost track of time hehe. after I came off the comp and we ate dinner I continued to knit my fiances first Knuck and when I got to the cuff part I wanted to start the textured cuff, but I didn't know how to do the slipped stitches (I even looked it up in my Learn to knit book and it didn't tell me eventhough it has a pattern in it that has slipped stitches in it!) I actually used that pattern it was one of the first things I ever made after some scarfs..it was a cushion cover I'll have to find it out so I can show you..I just cannot remember how you do the slipped stitches so I just started the ribbed cuff..I'll ask on the KAL and see if someone on there can help me^_^ so yeah I've nearly finished the first of his Knucks! YAY! although he has changed his mind about what he wants on them several times now lol he wanted a The Used theme on it first and then after seeing Superman Returns he wanted some superman knucks, but now he just doesn't know, so I told him to make up his mind or he'll get plain Knucks! lol (I was only kidding obviously)=P
Oh and the day before that I found a kool site of a shop located in Chester (UK) and they have all the best yarns and magazines and everything and it's not even that expensive neither! YAY finally an awesome shop in the uk!! I wish it was closer so I could just go to the shop instead of having it all posted, but ohwell you can't have it all can you^_^ btw the shop is called Stash.
I have also been trying to make my own graph of Jimi Hendrix on a site called MicroRevolt, they have a program built in called KnitPro and you can submit an image and that program converts it into a chart/graph!! how awesome is that! Anyway it was kind of hard to get a right picture, because too many colours are obviously confusing and it will be too hard for me so I'm thinking of turning a coloured image into a black&white image so it'll be easier and hopefully a bit more clear^_^ I tried to get a picture on here of the graph I made, but it wouldn't work as it's a pdf file so I have to send it to my blog in a seperate post so you can see it in the next post (hopefully)^_^
It's not been as warm over here anymore it's been rather rainy aswell the last couple of days so it's gone the complete opposite way from being hot and sunny!
I haven't heard back from ChoiceUk yet (the place where I applied for a job) and the local paper doesn't have many jobs in it neither although I did see one for a florist though they're asking for an experienced florist, but I'm going to ring them anyway just to ask if they wouldn't mind to have a trainee...doesn't hurt to ask now does it^_^ oh and my MIL-tobe also saw a "help wanted" sign in the window of a bakery, so I'm going to go there next time we go to town to see if I can get an application form. I prefer to work in smaller shops, because I panic with too many ppl around as I'm already paranoid around loads of ppl anyway so it'll be kind of scary for me when I get a job again. I just hate how I never know what to say when I don't know somebody..I'm already shy with a low self-esteem as it is, but I want to get a job so I'll just have to get over that...I hope I can, because I don't like being that way. I wish I was more confident *sigh*.

anywho enough whining hehe I thought I'd share this lovely picture of our beautiful Bobby blue eyes..you can see why we call him that^_^ sometimes his eyes seem too get brighter and darker depending on the weather but usually his eyes are piercing blue. he's always got fur issues because he sheds alot..I think it might be a Snowfeet thing (he is part snowfeet part siamese)..and we brush him all the time hehe. He likes to bite ppl..not hard so it hurts just lil love bites I think it's his way of showing he likes you he just likes to play...trust me you know when he's playing or when he's telling you to bog off lol isn't he adorable though?^_^

My Knucks hat

There it is then finally! my PDA hat from the SnB:HH book that I made to match my Knucks ^_^ I'm happy with how the embroidery turned out I even tried out the Chinese Knot stitch for the berries as you can see. I still think the hat coud've been a little bit bigger, but I can always make another one and I'm happy with this one to match my Knucks.
I have also started Davids (my fiance) Knucks last night and I've done the first few fingers I'm hoping I'll get the first glove half way done or finished tonight. I'm making them in black with Stylecraft "Special" Chunky. Nothing fancy there but it'll do it's job ^_^.
Today has been rather dull outside there hasn't been any sunshine at all but yet it's still unbearably hot! I have this weird thing...(Oh blast I should've mentioned this in the tag post!)..I can smell rain before it starts to rain! Seriously. and I know it will rain today maybe even thunder. I even remember when we went to Italy a couple of years ago we arrived in Grado, we were in the car and I told my mom "I can smell rain" eventhough it hadn't even rained yet. Then a couple of hours later, when we were in the appartment we were staying in, it just started to pour down really badly, even the drains were flooding! That's the first time I remember being able to do it. I don't know if anybody else can do it, but the only time I've ever heard anyone say they could was in Autumn in New York and it's Winona Ryders character who can ^_^.
By the way Grado is a really beautiful place to stay and I really loved going to Trieste aswell (it's near Grado). Infact I LOVED Trieste I liked it better then Venice. Yes Venice is beautiful, don't get me wrong I loved it there aswell, but not like Trieste. I just thought it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been^_^ We alos went to the Miramare Castle that you can see on the site in the Trieste link I gave you. On the picture name "Me and Adriatic (and friends)" you can see how lovely and blue the Adriatic is (that's the ocean in case you don't know). *sigh* I'd recommend going to Trieste to everybody.

is what I've been (busy and lazy) lately! yesterday I didn't even get a chance to post on my own blog because I had to go to town to go to the jobcentre and get some wool for more Knucks. It stinks to be unemployed especially because of the jobcentre. They just always seem to manage to mess something up (like mysteriously loosing your bank details and such) and then you end up not being paid for weeks for example, but when it comes to something that concerns them their always flawless! even yesterday we went in and thought everything was sorted out and then this morning they called us to say that they forgot to ask about some information they needed so we had to go all the way back to town because they messed up. It's like..fine I don't mind that, but it costs us £5 pounds everytime we have to go over and not to mention that our whole day was messed up because of it, so yeah I was pretty angry (and that's saying it nicely).
We both send an application form in for a job at ChoicesUK so let's hope at least one of us gets it^_^ I wish I could apply for a job at the LYS that would be awesome, but it's never busy so I doubt they'll EVER hire someone else *sigh* ohwell a girl can dream can't she? I think I'm also going to apply for a job at Icelands and Savers. I just want a job and get rid of the lame jobcentre.
Anywho yesterday it was my dads birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! I sent him a present early but it still hasn't arrived so I'm not too happy about that. I hope it'll be there soon =(
Oh oh and last night we went to see Superman Returns! all I have to say is GO SEE IT NOW! I loved it! They did really well with this one. I wasn't too keen on Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor though..I don't know..I guess he just wasn't convincing enough for me he just apeared to me as Kevin Spacey with a bald head. But the rest of the cast was spot on! so GO SEE IT! NOW! lol They were even selling some action dolls at the cinema hehe!
As we went to the cinema at quarter to 8 we didn't come back untill like 11:30 because the cinema is that far away so I didn't get to do any embroidery and I'm not posting any pics until I've done =P
I did on the other hand found out about a funny new movie that's coming out with Ben Stiller called "Night at the museum" and I've found this trailer for it so have a look: NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM . Yes you saw it right..it was Dick van DYke! hehe awesome! Just felt like sharing it^_^
Today was BLAH and I feel the exact same I just need to chill out for a bit and listen to some good tunes. All will be ok then^_^ btw does anybody ever listen to the music I put on my blog?

Hmm last night I was sat on the sofa and I couldn't help but think of what I could be making instead of just being sat there and I even pestered my fiance about going to town tomorrow so we could go pick out some wool for his Knucks (lol) and then I picked up my SnB:HH book and looked through it just to see if there was something I could make with the yarn I had right now..and I picked the PDA hat by Kittee Burns it's a crocheted had with earflaps on the side and I still had loads of the yarn left on the skein that I used for my knucks so I firgured why not make a hat to match that's kinda geeky? ^_^ I like geeky things I don't know why I just always have...even when it wasn't in fashion yet! I would have been a right fashion queen back in school if geeky was in fashion like it is now! *sigh* instead I just got beat up lol. Talking about fashion...I was looking through the new Vogue Knitting issue online on the link Lani gave us on the PRKG blog (thanks btw) and I saw that..."Hobo Chic"...I don't get that..I'm sorry but I don't.. Hobo chic seriously? your telling me someone was walking along the streets somewhere and saw some hobo and thought...HMMM that would make a right mean outfit if it was clean! ??? But that's just me I probably just don't know anything about fashion LOL
Anywho I've made a few mistakes in my PDA hat already so I had to frog quite a bit =( it was way too small so I'm just going to add an extra row and recount the stitches. I'm also planning on embroidering like one or two leafs on the hat just like the ones on the gloves so it'll be like a set^_^
Oh and just to add to all that I actually had a dream about Knucks aswell LOL omg I'm pathetic...don't ask!

I was tagged by Rose_Anglaise yesterday so I feel obligated to respond to it^_^
I have to confess to "6 weird things/habits" and then pick on six other bloggers/diarists to do the same! That is if I dare to trouble other ppl with it lol
Here goes:
1. When thinking about something I always (need to) do something such as tap the pen I'm writing with on the table or bite my lip.
2. I can't stand it when someone touches or squeezes the top of my hand because it freaks me out thinking about my veins being squeezed. Veins just freak me out period.
3. I saw my grandma in my dreams the night before she passed away. She was getting on a bus in my dream and turned around and smiled and then the bus drove off.
4. I used to be scared of the swimming pool when I was little, because of the nightmares I had which had sharks and creepy creatures swimming away in the swimming pool trying to get to me (LOL).
5. It freaks me out thinking about being stuck in the middle of the ocean with all those fish and creatures and depth beneath me.
6. My birthday in 1996 was the worst ever because on that day (October 4th) a plane crashed into several appartment buildings and killed loads of people in Amsterdam.

Well that's really all I could think of....I hope whoever reads this is still awake lol wow I'm boring!

I've finally finished my Knucks! I felt kinda sad when I finished them lol because it was so much fun making them^_^ but I'll be making my fiances Knucks soon and then my SILtobe aswell! heehee oh and I also have my fiances Boy Beanie (crochet) to make and some Bunny slippers (crochet) for my SILtobe! I'll be busy for a while =D Anywho here are the pics of my precious finished Knucks!

I showed them on the Wooly Wonder forum and I exstatic that I got such a compliment from Elizabeth (who did the beautiful embroidery for the Harm None Knucks from the pattern) saying that my Knucks are "Gorgeous and symmetrical which ain't easy! Love the leaves" ! To me that's like Prince telling you he likes your song! lol *what are you talking about Prince rules! don't you be talkin' smack about Prince!* ^_^

Knitting part of Knucks is done

Well there they are...my Knucks! YAYAYAYAY! lol All I have to do now is embroider them. I'm going to pick out the colours I'm going to use and just hope for the best hehe^_^
David(my fiance) already requested a pair teehee but obviously not in pink lol so I'll let him pick out a colour and I'm also making him the Boy Beanie from the SnB:Happy Hooker book so he'll be all set for the winter...he's not a scarf kind of person so theres no point in me making any for him.
I did see an awesome pattern for a scarf on Knitty somewhere though called Exchequered ! I love the squary pattern^_^ I'd like to make it in Lime Green and Black though, because I'm not much of a yellow person unless it's not the dominating colour.
My mom said she and my sis visited my blog....HI MOM!, HI NANCY! ^_^ (if you're reading this then you can leave a comment if you like...you just click on COMMENTS at the bottom of this post and then you can type in your message there).
When will this heat end...my feet look like balloons constantly now it's rediculous...you know how ppl sometimes blow up those plastic doctor type of gloves? well picture them in the shape of feet and that's what my feet look like lol Am I the only one with balloon feet?
It's not safe to walk around our house without looking where your going anymore lately...cause theres cats laid everywhere lol they just walk around the house and randomly drop down on the floor and decide to take a nap because it's too warm to walk any further it's like a bloody minefield!=P
anyhows I'm going to make an attempt at some embroidery now so wish me luck!

wow I'm still shocked about how much progress I have made with my knucks I've almost finished my 2nd glove already! I've also been studying the little embroidery info booklet thingy my mom gave me just to get some ideas and I've got plans for my precious knucks^_^
I added some pictures of the booklet thingys (I don't know what you call em lol) all I know about them is that my mom got them with a crafty magazine from the 70's/80's it's written in dutch. I love all the different stitches I never knew there were so many of them! and every stitch is picture in a page and on the back of the page they show you how to do the stitch with diagrams^_^ I have no excuse to stink at embroidery now lol! we'll see how it goes.

It is David's (my fiance) sisters bday today! she's 25 now and already worrying about how she is getting old lol ...I sometimes feel old when I think about how everybody that's my age is all grown up and how it seems ages ago when me and my sis got up at 6am every saturday morning just to watch our fav cartoons (Animaniacs, Johny Quest, Captain Planet!,Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, Phantom 2040,He-Man,Racoons, Teddy Ruxpin,etc)! I just sometimes can't believe that's been like 10/12 years! it just seems like yesterday to me. I still love watching cartoons ...I even baught Captain Planet and the Planeteers on video (they didn't have a DVD version) LOL I think it's a really great idea for a cartoon anyway...you know let the kids know it's kool to save the planet *yes I'm a dork*^_^ I hope they'll never remake it though...I hate it when they do that they always mess it up!

Today I've been listening to Anouk all day I just think she rules. I wish she was more famous international aswell though, cause then I could just buy her music over here aswell and I wouldn't have to go back home to Holland to buy it! (she's a rockin' sDutch singer). I think one of her singles was once published in the US called Nobodies Wife, but apperantly the world doesn't recognise talent when they see it! she's huge in Holland and Belgium and other countries aswell. If you're going to visit her site you should watch her "Everything" video under the Clips section...well all of them are good really^_^
Anywho it's done nothing but rain today and thunder,but it's still hot! sometimes this kind of weather is worse then the sunshine kind of heat and this is one of those times =S I love thunder and lightning. The other week we had some lightning and they were lighting up all purple! everytime I see lightning I always have to think about the time that me and my fam were on holiday in Austria. I think I was about 10 and one night there was nothing but thunder going on so me and my sis went outside on the balcony of the appartment we stayed in and watched the thunders and there was this HUGE and LOUD lightningbolt so...we ran inside (lol) anyway an hour or so later we were listening to the radio and they said some old man died by lightning and me and my sister have always been convinced it was that one HUGE lightning we saw that killed him! 0_0

The booklet with the pink bee on it is the one with the embroidery in it and the blue bee booklet has crochet stitches in it^_^ Anyhow, I am still pondering about what to put on the knucks fingers though...I want either KNIT NERD, KNIT GEEK, FELT THIS or ROCK GEEK. what do you think? ohwell if I can't decide I guess I'm just going to have to make them all! *runs off giggeling*

Despite the digusting weather...I manged to finish my first Knuck!

WOOHOO I'm really happy with it! It's obviously not completly finished because it still need embroidery and I haven't closed the gaps inbetween the fingers yet, but that's because I can't seem to find my tapestry needle anywhere...*sigh* so yeah that means I'm going to have to get a new one tomorrow or whenever I'm going into town, but I don't mind because that means I'll be going into my LYS^_^ maybe they'll even have some yarn/wool on sale...I wish they would have some handspun wool I'd love to have some of that I always love the colour flow.
Did I mention it's hot? last night it actually rained really bad and as always that means even more stickiness and disgusting heat and less sunshine! joy. oh and on top off all that, thanks to the heat, my feet and ankels have swollen to the size of looking like balloons!
We (me and my man) can't wait to get a car...he's getting driving lessons right now and today was like his 5th lesson so it's going to be a while before we can actually drive. It's just such a pain because we always have to go with the bus to wherever we need to go and going by bus ain't cheap neither it costs us like £5 to go to town and back! it's just rediculous it would save us loads of money just to have a car...yeah we know theres insurance and gas and all that but trust me in the end it would all be cheaper...not to mention easier...you won't believe how unreliable the busses and trains over here are. They can be everywhere I suppose (I know because they can be in Holland) but over here it just takes the piss. (pardon my language lol).

well I managed to get some progress done despite of the disgusting heat last night...i wish it would just end already or at least go down to a bearable level!anyhow I made some pictures of my halfway finished knuck which I HOPE will be finished tonight...well the knitting part anyway I'm not going to emroider it till both knucks are done and I have some marvelously brilliant plans for it! ^_^ and I actually rememberd that my mom gave my these little booklet type of things from the 70's that have embroidery tips in it and even pictures that show how to do it! 70's rule and so does my mom for having them and giving them to me! ^_^ I do miss her loads (my parents still live in Holland and so does my sis) but we're hoping to go and visit them in august or september^_^
so theres a picture of my progress so far^_^ like I said I'm hoping to have it finished tonight...nah I will lol who am I kidding I can't possibly go to bed before finishing when I know I CAN have it finished tonight! =P

ok well I've joined the fingers and I'm now at the bit where I'm almost joining the thumb...I did something wrong last night, because I thought that you join the thumb when the WHOLE work measures 1.75inch and not when it measures 1.75inch from where you've joined the fingers lol (we don't have MicrosoftWord on this comp so I don't have any pics on my printed pattern *sigh*)I'm going to continue when I go off the comp after tea dinner^_^ though it's really hard knitting in this bloody heat! but yeah I can't stop, because I want to see my precious Knucks finished!
ahh I went on a lovely bike ride today to the local res(ervoir) and when we went there it was lovely and warm and with that little breeze....but when we went back it became extremely hot...like mind numbingly hot...so it wasn't much fun biking home lol we took some pics aswell enjoy ^_^

I could spend all day there just drawing things...I've never actually gone out to draw things...I should just go and do it...not now though it's too warm to go outside! lol

grr the DP needles were being mean to me last night! but I managed to grab hold of em and now they do what I want! (after some %&#*! ofcourse) YAY!! lol I was so excited last night (I nearly danced around the livingroom) because I managed to knit all the fingers, expect the index one, for my Knucks! WOOHOO! ...sorry, I'm excited because it's the first time I'm knitting with those dang DP needles so yay for me! ^_^ So here are some early progress pics:

nothing brilliant yet, but at least I've managed so far! i also put some pictures up to show the wool I'm using ...one of the wool pics is blurred, but that's because my camera has a mind of it's own and doesn't want to focus when I don't have a flash on! it's really nice wool though it's kind of shiny aswell as you can see in the pics where I did use the flash ^_^ I've already got some nice ideas for my embroidery I'm not just going to embroider words...but that's all I'm saying for now =P

It worked up really fast as I've already told you probably and I also made a flower for it last night I used a pattern from the HH book aswell and sowed it onto the scarf^_^

Knucks KAL

Last night I finally finished my Stripes (and stripes) forever scarf from the SnB:HH book and I finished it faster then I thought...I didn't even get a chance to put up a percentage bar for it lol I'll take some pics of it tomorrow I'm well pleased with it(^_^) I wanted to wear it today but then I went outside and well...it would just spontaniously combust in this sunshine...and if not then I would with that scarf on!
On to the title of this post I joined the Knucks KAL!! WOOHOO lol I'm really excited about it because it'll be the first time I'll knit gloves ...with double pointed needles! EEP! kinda scary, but I'm never going to learn if I don't try besides I read that theres more ppl on there that haven't done it before so I'm sure we can support eachother...I hope 0_0. I thought the start of the KAL would be August 1 but it's been changed...so now I'll have to go and buy all my stuff tomorrow good thing I've got money lol I've not decided what colour I'm going to make em in yet but I'll see when I'm in the woolshop a.k.a. heaven ^_^

Mittens and Kittens

Those are some mittens and a funky hat I knitted last year before we went home to Holland for Christmas ^_^ I'll have to take a picture of it on me so you can see how kool it looks on a head because it really is one fun hat =D I got the pattern from a book I bought off ebay it's a Canadian book for beginning knitters and mainly aimed at teenagers/tweens and it's got some awesome patterns in it and I'm planning on making loads of them just cause their so much fun and easy to do.
Oh yeah last night I started crocheting the Stripes (and Stripes) FOrever scarf from the SnB:HH book and so far I've done 3 rows...only 3 rows you think? yeah but every row contains 298 stitches! you heard TWOHUNDERD AND NINETY EIGHT!!! 0_0 once you get into the row it works up quite fast though so I should probably have it half finished tonight ^_^ I was going to make David (my fiance) the Boy Beanie from that book but I didn't have any worsted weight wool all I've got is Sports wool =S so we'll have to go and pick some colours for him next time we go into town =D

Drum roll please!...
I've finally done it! Finally finished my crochet hook case YAYAYAY! lol It's not brilliant, because it is a little bit bent on the inside as you can see but hey it's only my second EVER crocheted item so please be kind in commenting (^_~)
I just randomly made the flowers without a pattern or anything =) I didn't follow the patternon the outside ribbing of the case neither I just adjusted it as I went along I didn't like how it went in the pattern so there =P I've added the link to the pattern that I used in the name of this post if anyone is interested (^_^)
I also added a crocheted button and loop to close the case up with...and it's also the first time I've made a button so yay for me! I used the pattern for it from the SnB:HH book which btw is brilliant!
Sorry the images aren't big but for some reason it won't let me post more then like 2 images if I post them large so this will have to do =( I also posted about the case on crochetville and I loved all the nice and sweet compliments I got (^_^)

In the pattern it tells you to use plastic pieces for filling inbetween the lining and the cover...but unlike most ppl apperantly (lol) I don't have pieces of plastic laying around so I used some leftover cardboard and taped it up to make it waterproof incase any drink or whatever ever spills on it ...cause you just never know(^_^) Oh and I've also been able to find another great pattern HERE for another great case which I think I'll be trying soon you can put loads of things in it and it looks awesome so enjoy. I hope you like my case!

It's been a couple of days since I last posted, but I've made progress on my hook case since so that's my excuse (though in reality it's all because of Crochetville...and my addiction to it).
I've found some sketches and drawings so I decided to scan them and thought I'd share (^_^) I love critisism, random reactions and compliments...mostly just compliments...you do too and you know it!
Oh! oh! before I forget (as if I would!) today was the day that my greatly anticipated Happy Hooker book arrived *jumps for joy* yay! (all of you out there that have it know my great inner joy lol).
Here is my drawing of Ishi the last Yahi (although supposedly he wasn't really a Yahi) I saw his picture in one of my books and I just thought it was a very soulfull picture and had to try and draw it. I've always loved and admired the Native American culture and beliefs ever since I was little obviously back then I didn't know as much as I do today (not that I know everything) but I did always know they were close to nature and that's always been what I loved...I guess that's why I admire their culture/heritage so much especially because I too believe in Mother Nature and she is in everything around me (^_^) anyway here it is.

Here is another drawing of a...hmm I seem to have forgotten what kind of gull but yeah a gull *scratches head* I drew it from a picture in a birdbook.

This post is MASSIVE sorry =S The next drawing is...well a face and I drew it by connecting lines I don't know why it was like my hand had a mind of it's own!

Well that's all the images that seem to fit on one post so I'll post some tomoz or whenever I remember. I hope you like them so far please tell me what you think like I said I love compliments...er I mean critisism!

*sings* I'm in heaven crochet heaven lala lala lalalalala....eh? oh hi =D I was just thinking about how much I love how well my crochet hook case is coming along (^_^) I've got some pictures of the progress... I've finished the first half of the lining with pockets and I've done the fold and the first pocket of the second half of the lining so it's going well! ...*knocks on wood* well I know my luck hehe oh and I'm doing the inside lining in orange as you can see and the outside will be done in grey and I'm planning on making a flower to put on the front cover and I think I'm going to attach some ribbons to close the case up with =) but anyway heres the pictures (^_~):

Well the Amigurumi Bear I was going to make isn't going to be made anymore...I'm only a beginner and the pattern didn't even have any foundation chains in it so yeah maybe I'll try that again when I'm a bit more advanced (^_^) I found a new project and it's a crocheted crochet hook case.
I started it yesterday (after a day of crochetville lol) and it started out ok, but then I got lost, because I'm in the UK and the pattern had obviously been written in US measurements so I got really confuddled (my word for confused lol) and I tried to redo it twice and then gave up... so today I went to crochetville (any excuse!) and asked for help and then I finally saw the light lol somebody from the uk told me all about the differences between uk and us stitches and she also sent me to this site and it explains alot (well for me anyway) so yeah I'm starting it all over again now and hope for the best (^_^)

I found myself on Crochetville all day yesterday so I think I can say I've gone addicted lol it's just so much fun (^_^) and the people are really friendly and helpful....but on the otherside I've noticed I haven't been able to get any work done on my projects lol!

Hmpf...last night I was getting really stressed out watching the World Cup match Portugal-Netherlands... yea I was dissapointed that we lost but what really made me mad was the faul and dirty play that went on :

That was a second before Figo headbutted him in the face (O_O).

And that picture basically sums up the whole game... It just makes me so mad knowing they won the game by waisting 50 minutes of time in the second half by kicking our players down and pretending to be hurt....yes pretending...if they were really hurt then why are they running around with no care in the world two minutes after rolling around on the floor looking for a referees attention?? Don't get me wrong I'm happy for Portugal (^_^) and that they got through I've got nothing against Portugal, but what their football team did last night was wrong. And I also think that we should've played better upfront because we had so many chances and didn't score...ohwell maybe next time (^_^)

Anywayz enough about football... I figured out a way to play music on my blog! yayy! lol So from now on you can listen to the song that I love at that very moment! It's on the right side of my blog in the sidebar (^_^) and today it's Dirty Little Secret by All American Rejects (^_^)....hmm I seem to be using that emoticon alot lol sorry if it's annoying =P

I did a little more sewing last night, but not alot due to the match but I'm gonna do more tonight and tomorrow =)

Yayyyy *jumps up N down* I finally managed to put up my background image on here! I think it turned out pretty nice if I say so myself (^_^) I'm still wanting to fill in the lefthand side of my blog cuz it's awfully empty... but I don't know yet if it's possible to put up more then one background image... ohwell one step at a time =)
I've not done much today anywayz I've just been stuck on the comp browsing through Crochetville lol I'll continue with my bag tomorrow and I think I might start with my Amigurumi Bear tonight or Tuesday (^_^) and obviously I'll be watching the Holland match in the world cup tonight!...though I'm kinda having doubts weatehr we'll beat em or not lol

Oops I've not posted for two days (0_0) but I've been busy...shopping! lol and trying to get my knitting stuff bag ready (^_^) I've nearly finished it I'm just finishing the pocket I made inside it and then I'm still going to make a special section where I can put my knitting/crochet needles so that they won't be messed up all the time anymore.
Oh btw my website of the day (as always in the blogpost title) is Greenpeace.org.uk just because I really appreciate all the things they do for the world and I still think they're higly underappreciated by people these days! I used to donate to them (and the WWF) every month when I still had a job but I can't do that anymore until I get a job again and I will definatly donate to them again once I get a job (^_^)
I've got some pictures of my knitting bag and what it looks like so far....please don't look at the stitches lol I had to hand sew it cause we don't have a sowingmachine (^_^)

Today I've been looking around for places to promote my blog as it seems like nobody has noticed me yet (I know I've only been on for 4 days lol).... so I came across CrochetVille and I got a very warm welcome there and some people said they were gonna visit my blog so I hope they liked it (^_^) btw the link is in the title of this post as it's become my website of the day! (0_^)
I've also been trying to find a site that tells me how I can put my own image up as a background for my blog, but so far I haven't managed to do it eventhough I did find a few sites so I might just be doing it wrong.... so yeah if anybody can help me with that please let me know cuz I'm wanting to make my blog to look less...messy and dull lol
I'm also almost done with my totebag/knitting/crocheting stuff bag (^_^) I just have to sew up the last sides and then hopefully I can iron on the art I made for it tomorrow and then it'll be done! yay! I'll obviously put up some pictures (^_O)

I first found this site (link is in blogpost title) about a year ago and actually bought some fabric off ebay to start making a totebag for all my knitting stuff, cause everywhere I looked there were (no offense) old ladies knitting bags with wallpaper flower patterns on them....don't get me wrong I love flower patterns but yeah..=/ anyway I never got around to buying the fabric for the lining and now I've just decided I'm going to use these old pair of trousers I never wear and I'm also going to use an iron on I made for it about a year ago =) What's all this got to do with the site you think? well I got the tutorial for how to make a totebag from the Crafts section =) it's an easy to use site with very clear tutorials, what more could you want? =)

ok so I got lost in updating my photoshop and actually forgot to do my daily post on this blog yesterday=/ buttt I've got a kool new blog header to make up for it! =D well I like to think it's kool anyway and everyone that's seen it seems to be puzzled how I created it all in photoshop lol (everything in it has been created in photoshop except the picture of me obviously) I even kinda shocked myself that I actually managed to do it and managed to create exactly what I had in my mind for my blog =D I love working with photoshop and using tutorials and learning new things...and the fact that I actually manage to remember it all lol I'd love to know what anyone else thinks of it so please leave a comment =)
I also came up with a new purpose for my blogpost titles... from now on I'll be linking to my website of the day in every title! so the koolest site of the day will only be one click away=D ....hmm ok that sounded a bit cheesy but it's true!

Dull N Grey

Todays been a rather dull n grey it seems like my parents (who visited last week) took the sunny weather with em back to holland...so I thought until my mum called saying they arrived back home safely wednesday at 1 am after being in England for the past 3 weeks and that the weather there is just as dull as in here good old England.
As I'm unemployed I've been looking around for jobs but as always nobody seems to have the jobs I want....I know it sounds picky but trust me you don't want me working in a job I hate they'd just end up firing me anyway =/ No I'm not an office person I just can't do with the routine and daily boredom I get depressed just thinking about it....I guess I'm like a Proboscis Monkey (long nose monkey) who can only survive on Borneo and die if they're imprisoned....(please don't forget to click on this posts title as it's a link to the Proboscis Monkey petition site=D..yes I'm such a hippy I just can't help but love all animals!).
I've also been browsing the web looking for courses I could do and I ended up liking the sound of a jewelery making course at the local college I've always wanted to do something like that so I might look into that ^_^
I also ended up finding this awesome blog http://amigurumi-along.blogspot.com learned something new altogether called... Amigurumi O_O it's so adorable! I think I'm gonna buy some new wool soon and give it a go! I love learning new things...maybe I'll even become a contributer! =D
It's Hollands second match in the world cup tonight at 5 so I'm obviously gonna be watching that and especially for todays match to show my support I made this crappy but effective banner!:

Introduction and Confusion

I'm a first time blogger today! =)

Wow, I've seen so many kool blogs so I decided to make one of my own and that's when I found out that either I'm a total THICKO or everybody's a total genius online =\ lol I guess all there's left for me to do is hope I'll get used to things in the long run...I hope =)
Anyhow I'm planning on putting up some of my many projects I've created through life and also what I plan on creating in the future =) My projects will be: my drawings, my paintings, my knitting, my crocheting and (last but not least) my randomly created things. Here is one of my latest drawings:

I drew it after reading one of my now favourite books: The Tennant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte. It's my vision of Helen Graham...how I picture her to be. Though it's not completly finished yet, because I want to give her the right eye colour (dark blue) I just haven't got around to finishing it yet =) That reminds me... I only recently got to visit Anne's grave in Scarborough with my fiance David and my parents who were visiting us from Holland (yes I'm a dutchy living in England) last week =D.
I recently finished my first wearable knitting project it was a summertop and I got the pattern from a Simply Knitting magazine (the autumn 2005 issue I think). I didn't use the same wool nor did I follow the whole pattern, but I think it turned out better and less...preppy/chavvy/posh if I say so myself =D I just couldn't do with the dull grey, grey depresses me...I think it should be banned, so yeah I used a multicoloured wool called Gedrifa Fiocco (it's really one of the most beatiful yarns out there if you ask me) I got off ebay from the best knitting shop on ebay ARTOFYARN (who btw is really nice and helps you out with problems with projects) =D
I really don't know if I'm being a 'kool blogger' right now or if I'm just rambling =\ so yeah I hope this is ok enough for my first time ever blogpost (yay for me! =D).
